History

Before 2003, junior and senior secondary schools in Lagos State were a single administrative control. The government through the Lagos State Ministry of Education mandated all secondary schools in the state to be partitioned into junior (JSS1-3) and senior (SS1-3). This was what led to the establishment of Lagos State Junior Model College Badore from Lagos State Model College Badore (founded in 19 February 1988) on January 6, 2003. The emergence of the newly created school led to the appointment of Mrs. Sidikat Titilayo Smith as the first principal of the school.

The Federal Government College Lagos (FGCL) is a co-educational secondary school in Ijanikin, Lagos, Nigeria. It was established by the Federal Ministry of Education in 1975. The idea of this college in Lagos was conceived in the minds of the authorities of the Federal Ministry of Education early in 1974 when they thought it necessary to have one co-educational institution for Lagos state as there were in all the then 12 states of the Federation.

Lagos State Senior Model College Badore is a state owned secondary school located in Badore village, Eti-Osa Local government area of Lagos State. It is situated within the same compound as the junior school. It was founded in 1988, along with four other model colleges under the military administration of Captain Okhai Mike Akhigbe, the then Military Governor of Lagos state. The College which was established along with four others took off at Government College,Ketu, Epe. The other four Model Colleges include Igbonla, Kankon, Meiran and Igbokuta. From the period 1988-1992, the Colleges were given necessary foundation and focus on their mission as pacesetters in academics and co-curricular endeavours. Students at the sister Model College Igbonla won laurels in programmes by the Directorate of Food Roads and Rural Infrastructure (DFRRI), the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) and several other competitions. For example, a student from the Igbonla College won the ANCOPSS National Essay Competition in 1992.
