Lake Shilloi is a natural lake in Phek District, Nagaland. It is the largest natural lake in Nagaland. It falls in a valley surrounded with pine forests. [1] [2]

Name

The name of the lake is originally Lütsam meaning ‘a place where water is collected’. It was known as Shiloh by the British during the British era but today it is officially known as Shilloi.

National Socialist Council of Nagaland

The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) is a Naga nationalist separatist group operating mainly in Northeast India, with minor activities in northwest Myanmar (Burma) until 2012. The main aim of the organisation is to establish a sovereign Naga state, "Nagalim", which would consist of all the areas inhabited by the Naga people in Northeast India and Northwest Myanmar. The NSCN's slogan is "Nagaland for Christ". The group is currently fighting for the separation of Nagaland from India.

Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir was a noted Hindi scholar and littérateur from Longsa village under Mokokchung district in Nagaland state of India. He was conferred the Padma Sri honour by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in 2018 for the promotion of Hindi language and social work.

Loho Lake

Loho Lake also known as Chida Lake is a natural lake located at Chida Post, Khezhakeno, India. It lies about 4 kilometers from Khezhakeno and is located at the border of the Indian states of Nagaland and Manipur. Although, according to the map of the Survey of India, Loho Lake is located on the Manipur side of the border, but the area around the vicinity of the lake is administered as a jurisdiction under the state of Nagaland.
