Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College or LLRMC is a state-run Medical College located in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is named after the Arya Samaj leader, Lala Lajpat Rai.

The college is affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut [ citation needed ] and was established in 1966. [2] [3]

The college is situated on the Garh Road, Meerut.

Courses

The college offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine. [4] [5] Various courses like M.B.B.S and Bsc. Nursing run in the college.[ citation needed ]

Upgrade

The Government of India has decided to upgrade the institute along the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences as part of phase 3 of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), whereby the Central Government will bear 80% of the cost of upgrading and 20% of the cost will be borne by State Government. Lala Lajpat Rai Indian revolutionary and politician (1865–1928)

Lala Lajpat Rai was an Indian independence activist. He played a pivotal role in the Indian Independence movement. He was popularly known as Punjab Kesari. He was one of the three members of the Lal Bal Pal triumvirate. He was also associated with activities of Punjab National Bank and Lakshmi Insurance Company in their early stages in 1894. He died a few weeks after sustaining severe injuries during a baton charge by police when he led a peaceful protest march against the all-British Simon Commission, a commission constituted by the United Kingdom for Indian constitutional reform.

Sukhdev Thapar Indian revolutionary (1907–1931)

Sukhdev Thapar was an Indian revolutionary. A senior member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association, he participated in several actions alongside Bhagat Singh and Shivaram Rajguru, and was hanged by the British authorities on 23 March 1931 at the age of 23.

Amarnath Vidyalankar

Amarnath Vidyalankar was an Indian member of Parliament, social worker and journalist. He was involved in the Indian independence movement and a member of the Indian National Congress since before independence. After independence, Vidyalankar was Minister of Education, Labor and Languages in the Government of Punjab from 1957 to 1962 and a member of the First (1952–56), Third (1962-67) and Fifth (1971-1977) Lok Sabhas.
