The 2002 Winter Olympics,officially the XIX Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Salt Lake 2002,were an international winter multi-sport event that was held from February 8 to 24,2002,in and around Salt Lake City,Utah,United States.

Legacy Parkway is an 11.5-mile-long (18.5 km) four-lane controlled-access parkway located almost completely within Davis County in the northern part of the U.S. state of Utah. The parkway travels north from Interstate 215 (I-215) in northwestern Salt Lake City to an interchange named the Wasatch Weave in Farmington with two intermediate interchanges providing access to Woods Cross and Centerville. Wetlands of the nearby Great Salt Lake and nature preserves border the western side of the parkway while the eastern side roughly parallels Union Pacific and Utah Transit Authority rail lines and I-15. On average,between 20,000 and 23,000 vehicles use the parkway daily.
Karen Mayne was an American politician who served as a member of the Utah Senate from the 5th District. She assumed office on January 2,2008,succeeding her husband,Ed Mayne. She won re-election for the 12th senate district after redistricting. On January 4,2023 Karen Mayne announced her plan to resign office due to unexpected changes in her health. Using his position as publisher of the Salt Lake Tribune,"Jack" Gallivan was the driving force behind numerous civic improvement and development projects including the Salt Palace,the Salt Lake Arts Center,Symphony Hall,The Capitol Theatre,and the promotion of light rail. His many contributions to the economic and cultural life of the city were recognized by the community in the naming of the John W. Gallivan Plaza near the center of downtown.
The 2012 United States Senate election in Utah took place on November 6,2012,concurrently with the 2012 U.S. presidential election as well as other elections to the United States Senate and House of Representatives and as various state and local elections. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch won re-election to a seventh term against the Democratic candidate,former state Senator and IBM executive Scott Howell,in a rematch of the 2000 Senate election,with Hatch doing slightly better than in 2000.. This would be the last time Hatch was elected to the Senate before his retirement in 2018.
The 2002 Winter Olympic Games were held in and around Salt Lake City,United States from February 8 to 24,2002,and the Paralympics from March 7 to 16,2002. The sporting events were held in ten competitive venues,while non-competitive events,such as the opening ceremony,were held in six other venues. Three venues were also created for training purposes. All Olympic venues were scattered throughout Northern Utah and the Wasatch Front.

The Salt Palace was an indoor arena located in downtown Salt Lake City,Utah. Opened in 1969,the building hosted several professional sport teams,concerts,and other special events before it was closed and demolished in the 1990s to make way for the current Salt Palace Convention Center.

The 2022 United States Senate election in Utah was held on November 8,2022,to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of Utah. Incumbent senator Mike Lee,who was first elected in 2010,won re-election to a third term,defeating Evan McMullin,an independent candidate who was endorsed by the Utah Democratic Party.
