John Albert Kitzhaber is an American former politician and physician who served as governor of Oregon from 1995 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015. In February 2015,shortly after beginning his fourth term,Kitzhaber resigned from office and was replaced by Secretary of State Kate Brown. Peter Michael Coleman Courtney is an American politician,lawyer,and professor who was a Democratic member of the Oregon State Senate,representing the 11th District since 1999. He served as President of the Senate from 2003 to 2023. He was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives in 1981,1983,and from 1989 through 1998. Courtney previously taught at Western Oregon University.

Christine Renee Drazan is an American politician who served in the Oregon House of Representatives from the 39th district from 2019 to 2022,as a member of the Republican Party. During her tenure in the state house she served as the minority leader from 2019 to 2021. She was the Republican nominee in the 2022 Oregon gubernatorial election,which she lost to Democrat Tina Kotek. As of 2024 she is seeking the Republican nomination for a seat in the state house for the 51st district.
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Oregon on November 3,2020. Primary elections were held on May 19,2020.
