Las Vegas (stylised as [Las Vegas] or [las vegas]) is the debut studio album by Burger/Ink, a German duo composed of Jorg Burger and Mike Ink. It was released in Europe in 1996 on Harvest Records and subsequently released in the United States in 1998 on Matador Records.
Jorg Burger and Wolfgang Voigt first met in the early 1980s and began producing electronic music in the late 1980s. In the early 1990s they co-founded the Trance Atlantic record label and opened the Delirium record store in Cologne, the latter also by Michael Mayer, Jürgen Paape, and Reinhard Voigt who would all co-found the minimal techno label Kompakt in 1998 alongside Burger and Voigt. Burger and Voigt discussed the direction of the album for three months before producing any material; in a 2007 interview Burger stated this was to "eliminate any unnecessary doubling of our ideas." Burger recorded loops using guitar and bass, which were passed on to Voigt for further work. [2]
Voigt has stated that the album is dedicated as a tribute to Avalon by Roxy Music. [3] Critics have noted the album's song titles as referencing the group. [4]
In 2017, Pitchfork included the album on their list of the Top 50 IDM Albums of All Time, placing at 33. Writing for the article, Simon Reynolds stated that "[Las Vegas] marks a moment for IDM in which ideas were coalescing and new conversations were arising. Some of its influence is circumstantial; few predicted the globally prominent rise of Cologne's dance music and Kompakt Records soon after its release, or that Matador's issuing of the album in the U.S. two years later would open its indie-rock listeners to electronic beats." John Bush of AllMusic rated the album 4.5 out of 5 stars, writing "Quite distanced from the legion of echo-chamber drumkick records in Mike Ink's catalog, Las Vegas presents a series of languid trance numbers that reprise the deep-sea dub of his Studio 1 recordings but without the straight-ahead four-four beats." Las Vegas remains the sole album released under the name Burger/Ink. In 2007, Burger and Voigt formed another project under the name Mohn and released an album in 2012. [6]

Ambient techno is a subgenre of techno that incorporates the atmospheric textures of ambient music with the rhythmic elements and production of techno. It was pioneered by 1990s electronic artists such as Aphex Twin, Carl Craig, The Orb, The Future Sound of London, the Black Dog, Pete Namlook and Biosphere.

He signed on numerous record labels, including Warp, Harvest, Raster-Noton, Force Inc, Astral Industries and Kompakt. The latter was co-founded by Voigt alongside Michael Mayer and Jürgen Paape. He is considered one of the most influential minimal techno artists.

Jonas Bering is a French electronic music songwriter, from Lille, France. Jonas Bering emerged from the techno scene of Cologne, Germany, through his works released on the German label Kompakt, run by Wolfgang Voigt, Michael Mayer and Juergen Paape. His debut album "Bienfait" is the first vinyl album released by the Kompakt label for a solo artist. This also makes Jonas Bering the first non-German artist to be featured in the label's catalog.
Michael Mayer is an electronic musician from Cologne, Germany. Mayer is a remixer, DJ and producer, and has released several singles on the Kompakt music label, working with founder Wolfgang Voigt. Mayer has also released music on Kompakt-related labels New Trance Atlantic and Kreisel 99.

The album is the third installment of the influential Cologne-based microhouse label's annual compilation of vinyl releases and exclusives from its biggest artists and most promising newcomers. Vinyl and CD editions are quite different since only six songs are included on both formats. All tracks on the vinyl format were previously unreleased when the compilation came out. "Departures" was since included on Closer Musik's album After Love, "So Weit Wie Noch Nie" was since released on 12 inch, both on Kompakt in 2002. It was this album that introduced the worldwide electronic music scene to the Cologne minimal sound which was to be dominated by Kompakt releases.
Jörg Burger is a German record producer who has had several releases on Kompakt as Triola, including an album, Triola im Fünftonraum, in 2004. He is also in a duo with Wolfgang Voigt.
Axel Willner is a Swedish electronic music producer and DJ from Stockholm and currently based in Berlin, best known for his releases as The Field, blending micro-samples of pop songs into atmospheric minimal techno.

All tracks on the vinyl edition are previously unreleased. As with its predecessor, the CD edition includes all tracks from the vinyl edition, and additionally fourteen tracks taken already available 12 inch singles.

Looping State of Mind is the third studio album by Swedish electronic music producer Axel Willner under his alias the Field and released digitally on 5 September 2011 by Kompakt. The production stemmed from the use of guest musicians for Willner's previous album as the Field, Yesterday and Today (2009), and his use of live instrumentation in a music tour. The songs in Looping State of Mind were produced at Dumbo Studios, Cologne, where live instrumentation, performed by Dan Enquvist and Jesper Skarin, were added to demos composed by Willner. It is an ambient and minimal techno album that develops upon the Field's previously established music style. Each song is formed by musical loops that are layered and evolve over time, creating immersive and intricate songs.
