Mohanlal Viswanathan is an Indian actor, film producer, playback singer, film distributor, and director who predominantly works in Malayalam film industry besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. Mohanlal has a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 400 films. Mohanlal's contributions to the Malayalam cinema have been praised by his contemporaries in the Indian film industry. Vanaprastham: The Last Dance is a 1999 Indo-French psychological drama period film in Malayalam-language that was directed by Shaji N. Karun. It was produced by Pierre Assouline and co-produced by Mohanlal. The screenplay was written by Karun and Raghunath Paleri based on a story by Assouline. It features Mohanlal in the lead role, with Suhasini Maniratnam, Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar, Kalamandalam Gopi, Venmani Haridas, and Kukku Parameshwaram in supporting roles. Ente Mamattukkuttiyammakku is a 1983 Indian Malayalam-language family drama film produced by Navodaya Appachan under Navodaya Studio. It was written and directed by Fazil and stars Bharat Gopy, Mohanlal, Shalini, Poornima Jayaram, and Sangeeta Naik. The film was reported to be heavily inspired by the 1982 film Annie.

Up & Down: Mukalil Oralundu is a 2013 Malayalam psychological thriller film directed by T. K. Rajeev Kumar. It is very loosely based on the 2011 Hollywood film Elevator. The story unfolds in a lift where nine people are stuck. Indrajith, Prathap Pothen, K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Rejith Menon, Baiju, Nandhu, Remya Nambeesan, Sruthi Menon, and master Devaraman play the nine characters who got trapped inside the lift. Meghana Raj, Vijayakumar, Jaikrishnan, Kochu Preman are the other important cast. The film is produced by V. Balachandran, R. Karunamurthi and Latha Kurien Rajeev under the banner of Blue Mermaid Picture Company. The script is penned by Sunny Joseph and Manuel George and camera is cranked by Jomon Thomas.

B. Rajendraprasad, professionally credited as Beeyar Prasad, was an Indian lyricist, poet, and playwriter in Malayalam language. He made his cinema debut in the Malayalam film industry through the 2003 film Kilichundan Mampazham composed by Vidyasagar.
