Hoboken is a city in Hudson County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Hoboken is part of the New York metropolitan area and is the site of Hoboken Terminal,a major transportation hub. As of the 2020 United States census,the city's population was 60,419,an increase of 10,414 (+20.8%) from the 2010 census count of 50,005,which in turn reflected an increase of 11,428 (+29.6%) from the 38,577 counted in the 2000 census. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated that the city's population was 57,703 in 2022,ranking the city as the 688th-most-populous in the country. With more than 42,400 inhabitants per square mile (16,400/km2) in data from the 2010 census,Hoboken was ranked as the third-most densely populated municipality in the United States among cities with a population above 50,000. In the 2020 census,the city's population density climbed to more than 48,300 inhabitants per square mile (18,600/km2) of land,ranked fourth in the county behind Guttenberg,Union City and West New York.
Weehawken is a township in the northern part of Hudson County,in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located on the Hudson Waterfront and Hudson Palisades overlooking the Hudson River. As of the 2020 United States census,the township's population was 17,197,an increase of 4,643 (+37.0%) from the 2010 census count of 12,554,which in turn reflected a decline of 947 (−7.0%) from the 13,501 counted in the 2000 census.
Frank Hague was an American Democratic Party politician who served as the Mayor of Jersey City from 1917 to 1947,Democratic National Committeeman from New Jersey from 1922 until 1949,and Vice-Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 1924 until 1949. During his 30 years as mayor,Hague established reforms and innovations that upgraded the city's infrastructure and services,including the construction of parks,schools,and public housing. He also worked to secure funding for public works projects and attracted new businesses to the city,which helped to boost its economy. Simultaneously Mayor Hague had a dark reputation for corruption,extortion and bossism and has been called "the grandaddy of Jersey bosses". By the time he left office in 1947,he enjoyed palatial homes,European vacations,and a private suite at the Plaza Hotel. His wealth has been estimated to have been over $10 million at the time of his death,although his City salary never exceeded $8,500 per year and he had no other legitimate source of income.
Walter Evans Edge was an American diplomat and Republican politician who served as the 36th governor of New Jersey,from 1917 to 1919 and again from 1944 to 1947,during both World War I and World War II. Edge also served as United States Senator representing New Jersey from 1919 to 1929 and as United States Ambassador to France from 1929 to 1933.

The Hoboken mayoral election of 2017 was an election to determine who will hold the office of Mayor of Hoboken,New Jersey in the upcoming term of 2018–2022. The election took place on November 7,2017. Incumbent Mayor Dawn Zimmer announced that she would not run for a third term on June 20,2017,hoping to pursue climate change issues higher up in the chain of government,and endorsed City Councilman Ravinder Bhalla. On November 7,Bhalla was elected mayor of Hoboken,with 32.75% of the vote,becoming the first Sikh mayor in New Jersey history,and the first turbaned Sikh to be elected mayor in the United States.
Ravinder Singh Bhalla,often simply called Ravi Bhalla,is an American civil rights lawyer,politician,the 39th and current mayor of Hoboken,New Jersey. Prior to becoming mayor,he served in the city council of Hoboken,New Jersey,since 2009. On November 7,2017,he was elected New Jersey's first Sikh mayor.

The Fagan Iron Works was an iron foundry owned by Lawrence Fagan located in Hudson County,New Jersey at the turn of the 20th century. Initially located in Hoboken,the main foundry was later moved to Jersey City. Many of the characteristic iron storefronts that line Washington Street were produced by Fagan Iron Works. Notably,the architectural iron for Hoboken City Hall was supplied by Mansfield &Fagan,the predecessor to the Fagan Iron Works.
