Laxman Mahadu Matera was an Indian politician and leader of Communist Party of India. He represented Thane constituency in 2nd Lok Sabha. [1]

He participates in the Kisan Movement and works for the emancipation and uplift of Scheduled Tribes in Thane District. [2]

As of the 2014 election, Chintaman Vanaga of the Bharatiya Janata Party represented this constituency in the Lok Sabha. After sudden demise of Chintaman Vanaga, Bharatiya Janata Party gave ticket to Rajendra Gavit for by-elections.
