Layar LRT station (SW6) is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Fernvale, Sengkang, Singapore, located at Sengkang West Avenue near the junction of Fernvale Link. It was opened on 29 January 2005 together with the Punggol LRT East Loop. [1] The station is located off the western border of Sungei Punggol.
The name of the station means "sail" in Malay, which is consistent with the seafaring theme of Sengkang. [2]
The Punggol LRT is an automated guideway transit line in Singapore. The line, which initially opened on 29 January 2005, connects the residential districts and suburbs of Punggol to Punggol Town Centre, where it connects with the North East MRT line and the Punggol Bus Interchange. It is the third line of the LRT system in Singapore and like all other LRT lines, it is fully elevated and uses automated trains.
The Sengkang LRT is a 10.7-kilometre (6.6 mi) automated guideway transit line in Singapore. The line, which initially opened on 18 January 2003, connects the residential districts and suburbs of Sengkang to Sengkang Town Centre, where it connects with the North East MRT line, Sengkang Bus Interchange, Compass One and Compassvale Bus Interchange. It is the second line of the LRT system in Singapore and like all other LRT lines, it is fully elevated and uses automated trains. It is the first LRT line to be operated by SBS Transit.
The Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a series of localised automated guideway transit systems acting as feeder services to the heavy rail Mass Rapid Transit, which together forms the core of Singapore's rail transport services. Sengkang Depot is a train depot in Sengkang, Singapore operated by SBS Transit. It is the first co-location of facilities for both the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT). It maintains the trains for the North East line, Sengkang LRT line, and Punggol LRT line, and houses the control centre of the three lines.
Fernvale is a neighbourhood of Sengkang New Town in Singapore. It is located between Sungei Punggol and the proposed Sengkang West Industrial Estate. The house numbers of the public apartment blocks in Fernvale begin with the number '4' (4xx). Fernvale is the newest neighbourhood in Sengkang Town to be completed by the Housing and Development Board (HDB). Seletar Mall, a new shopping amenity which houses Sengkang's first cineplex, is located within this neighbourhood. In 2017, A proposed community facility to be located next to Seletar Mall was announced, which houses a community club, childcare centre, hawker centre and wet market. The community facility which was slated to be ready by the second half of 2020, had stopped construction in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 measures set by the government. Construction of the facility has since continued in the second half of 2020 and was completed in 2022.
Sengkang is a planning area and residential town located in the North-East Region of Singapore. The town is the second most populous in the region, being home to 249,370 residents in 2020. Sengkang shares boundaries with Seletar and Punggol in the north, Pasir Ris and Paya Lebar in the east, Hougang and Serangoon to the south, as well as Yishun and Ang Mo Kio to the west.
Cheng Lim LRT station is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Anchorvale, Sengkang, Singapore, located at Anchorvale Street between the junctions of Anchorvale Crescent and Sengkang East Road. It was initially not opened for passenger service since the beginning of operations of West Loop on 29 January 2005 due to little development in the area. The station was thus opened on 1 January 2013. The station is built next to Sengkang Community Hospital, which opened on 28 August 2018. The hospital is connected to the station via a linkway.
Farmway LRT station (SW2) is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Anchorvale, Sengkang, Singapore, located near Sengkang Riverside Park at Anchorvale Street near the junctions of Anchorvale Crescent and Anchorvale Road. It opened for passenger service on 15 November 2007 to facilitate the completion of Sengkang Sports Centre and Anchorvale Community Club within the vicinity.
Kupang LRT station (SW3) is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Fernvale, Sengkang, Singapore, located at Fernvale Street near the junction of Fernvale Link and next to Sengkang Riverside Park. It opened on 27 June 2015, and was the last station along the Sengkang LRT line to open for revenue service, more than 12 years after the first stations opened along the east loop and more than 10 years after the first five stations opened along the west loop.
Thanggam LRT station (SW4) is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Fernvale, Sengkang, Singapore, along Fernvale Road. It was opened on 29 January 2005 together with the Punggol LRT East Loop. This station is located near some shophouses along Jalan Kayu as well as Parc Botannia and High Park Residences condominiums. That road can be accessed via a link bridge towards Lorong Samak, a small road off Jalan Kayu, at the west exit of the station.
Fernvale LRT station (SW5) is an elevated Light Rail Transit (LRT) station on the Sengkang LRT line West Loop in Fernvale, Sengkang, Singapore, next to The Seletar Mall near the junction of Fernvale Road and Sengkang West Avenue. It was opened on 29 January 2005 together with the Punggol LRT East Loop. Like Dover MRT station on the East West line, this station is one of few above ground stations that has two opposing side platforms. This station has a similar design to Sam Kee LRT station as it is not built on a road median. A major mall beside the station, The Seletar Mall, opened its doors to the public on 28 November 2014.
