Lazdeika the Crab

Lazdeika the Crab (Lithuanian : Krabas Lazdeika) is a rainbow crab from Lithuania. The crab was used by Delfi.lt web portal as an oracle to predict the outcomes of each of the Lithuania national basketball team matches in the EuroBasket 2011. The crab has also predicted the outcomes of Lithuania in 2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament and at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Methodology

During divinations, Lazdeika was presented with two coconut shells, each marked with one of the flags of the competing countries. The coconut Lazdeika chose to shelter in first was considered to be his prediction as to the winner of the game.

The Lithuania men's national basketball team represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. Despite Lithuania's small size, with a population of less than 3 million, the country's devotion to basketball has made them a traditional force of the sport in Europe.

Arvydas Macijauskas is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player. Standing at 1.93 m tall, he played at the shooting guard position. He was one of the greatest Lithuanian players of the 2000s, as he won numerous individual awards, as well as club and national team titles.

EuroBasket 2011 2011 edition of the FIBA EuroBasket

EuroBasket 2011 was the 37th men's European Basketball Championship, held by FIBA Europe. The competition was hosted by Lithuania. This was the second time EuroBasket had been held in Lithuania, the country having also hosted the 1939 championship. FIBA Europe asserted that Lithuania managed to organize the best European championship in its history. The top two teams are guaranteed spots at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Vilnius Metro

Vilnius Metro is a proposed rapid transit system in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Three lines are currently proposed to connect the busiest and most populous city districts. Its purpose is the relief of traffic congestion, which increased significantly in the 1990s and 2000s. In 2001 Mayor Artūras Zuokas requested international support for a feasibility study of the proposed system. The proposal was approved as part of the city's master plan by the Vilnius Municipal Council in 2002. Systra was chosen by the city as a study partner; the Scott Wilson Group conducted a public-private financing feasibility study during 2005 and 2006.

Stano is a Russian-Lithuanian singer, songwriter, and author. He is the frontman of the musical group Delfinai. Stavickis has also written two novels, autobiographical Kiek kainuoja ilgesys, and Neįtikėtinos istorijos.

Žalgiris Arena

Žalgiris Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the New Town of Kaunas, Lithuania. The arena is located on an island of the Nemunas River. It is the largest indoor arena in the Baltics. The arena's maximum possible seating capacity for basketball games is 15,450, and 20,000 spectators for concerts. The Žalgiris Arena replaced the Kaunas Sports Hall as a major venue in the city.
