Legends of Cybertron

The Legends line began as the Legends of Cybertron, a sub-line of the Transformers: Cybertron line. It is made up of smaller, less detailed versions of the larger toys and were released in waves of 4 figures at a time. [1]

Transformers: Cybertron television series

Transformers: Cybertron, known as Transformers: Galaxy Force in Japan, is a 52-episode series co-produced by Hasbro and Takara, set in the Transformers universe. A corresponding toy line was released with the series.

The Legends of Cybertron toy line follows the Heroes of Cybertron and is similar in price range, but has a few changes - Legends toys transform and are articulated, whereas Heroes toys are solid statues. Legends toys are based on Transformers: Cybertron characters, whereas Heroes toys are based on Generation One Transformers.

These figures were first announced by the toy seller www.bbts.com in February 2005. [2] The first prototypes of these figures appeared online in March 2005. [3]

Although referred to as "Legends of Cybertron" by Hasbro, the packaging itself simply says Transformers: Cybertron on it and the toys are described as "Micro" class.

Galvatron is a name adopted by several fictional characters in the Transformers robot superhero franchise. He is usually the recreated form of Megatron, the Decepticon leader; however, it has been used for separate and unrelated characters, most notably the main villain of the anime series Beast Wars II, and the character from the more recent IDW Publishing G1 series.

Red Alert is the name of several characters in the various fictional Transformers series in the Transformers robot superhero franchise.

Soundwave is a fictional character appearing in the various Transformers continuities in the Transformers robot superhero franchise. His most well-known transformation is that of a microcassette recorder. Throughout most of his incarnations, he is an undying loyal lieutenant of the Decepticon leader Megatron. He is Megatron's eyes and ears and, in some interpretations, only speaks when mocking the Autobots.

Optimus Prime Fictional character from the Transformers franchise

Optimus Prime, known in Japan as Convoy, is a fictional character from the Transformers franchise. He is a Cybertronian, an extraterrestrial species of sentient self-configuring modular robotic lifeforms, a synergistic blend of biological evolution and technological engineering. In almost every version of the mythos, Optimus is the leader of the Autobots, a faction of Transformers who are rivals of the Decepticons, another faction. He is defined by his strong moral character and is almost always portrayed as the primary hero of the story, opposing the evil Decepticon leader Megatron.

Bootlegs

Being a simple toy the Legends lines are subject to a great deal of copying by smaller toy companies, particularly coming out of China. Simple recolors made of cheap plastic of Legends Leobreaker and Scourge have been seen at dollar stores like Dollar General in 2007. Some Legends toys have even been modified into combiners or enlarged to represent their larger sized cousins on shelves. One of the most unusual knmockoff variants seen are sets that are combiners made of Legends toys that don't normally combine.
