Leif Preus (18 February 1928 – 5 May 2013) was a Norwegian photographer and museum founder.

He was born in Horten as a son of Sverre Preus (1897–1988) and Marian Christoffersen (1901–1972). He was married from 1951. [1]

After eight years in the Royal Norwegian Navy he established his photo company Preus Foto in 1956. He established into a nationwide photo store chain. In 1976 his family founded Preus Photo Museum, from 2005 named Preus Museum in his hometown Horten. [2]

Leif Erikson, Leiv Eiriksson, or Leif Ericson, also known as Leif the Lucky, was a Norse explorer who is thought to have been the first European to have set foot on continental North America, approximately half a millennium before Christopher Columbus. Elisabeth Meyer (photographer) Norwegian photographer (1899–1968)

Elisabeth Meyer was a Norwegian photographer and journalist who is best known for her photo-journalistic work from travels through Iran and India in the 1920s and 1930s, among them early photographs of Mahatma Gandhi. Meyer traveled through Iran on her own and may have been the first Western woman to travel through Iran in this way. There was a total ban on photographing in Iran at the time and she was arrested several times, but released with a warning. In Turkey she visited Kemal Atatürk in his private residence and his bedroom covered in pink silk. In Irak she interviewed king Faisal in his "palais just outside Baghdad". In India the young Indira Nehru helped Meyer visit the imprisoned Mahatma Gandhi, and she described the meeting like this: «Any other man would appear ridiculous in that outfit, but with regard to Gandhi all criticism is silenced. I was never particularly enthusiastic about Gandhi, but now I am completely converted. He is one of the most sympathetic humans I have ever met, he is truly a great man.» Meyer also visited Syria, Mexico and Alaska.

Robert Meyer is a Norwegian art photographer, professor, photo historian, collector, writer and publicist. He is the son of journalist Robert Castberg Meyer and homemaker Edel Nielsen; and brother of the industrial designer Terje Meyer.

Leif Dietrichson

Leif Dietrichson was a Norwegian military officer and aviation pioneer. He is most famous for joining Roald Amundsen and Lincoln Ellsworth in the 1925 North Pole Expedition. In 1928, Dietrichson disappeared with Amundsen and four others as they were looking for the expedition of Umberto Nobile.

Marie Høeg was a Norwegian photographer and suffragist. Høeg's published work was traditional in nature, while her private photography, including images of and created with her partner, Bolette Berg, challenged ideas of gender. She was the founder of the Horten Discussion Association, which is still active today. Høeg also started the Horten Branch of the National Association for Women's Right to Vote, the Horten Women's Council and the Horten Tuberculosis Association.

The court serves the eastern part of the county which includes 5 municipalities. The court in Larvik accepts cases from the municipalities of Larvik and Sandefjord.
