Leighton Jordan, (born November 5, 1992) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Suwanee, Georgia who was named Miss Georgia 2012. [1]

A beauty pageant or beauty contest is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants, although most contests have evolved to also incorporate personality traits, intelligence, talent, and answers to judges' questions as judged criteria. The term refers largely to contests for women such as the Big Four international beauty pageants.

Suwanee is a city in Gwinnett County in the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 15,355; this had grown to an estimated 18,694 as of 2015. Suwanee was the practicing home of the Atlanta Falcons football team from 1979 to 2001 and was voted among the Top 10 Best Places to Live by Money in 2007. In 2012, Suwanee was rated by Kiplinger as the third best place in America for raising families. In 2013, Suwanee was identified as one of the nation's 10 Best Towns for Families by Family Circle magazine and in 2018, Suwanee was rated #1 for places with the best public schools in Georgia by Niche.

Biography

She won the title of Miss Georgia on June 23, 2012, when she received her crown from outgoing titleholder Michaela Lackey. Jordan’s platform is the “Sibling Support Project,” a national program designed to increase peer support and information opportunities for siblings of special needs children. [2] Her older brother suffers from numerous health problems, including deafness, cerebral palsy and epilepsy, inspiring her work with families with special needs children. [3] Her competition talent was a ballet en pointe to “He's a Pirate.” [4] Jordan was home-schooled though high school, and plans to attend college at Georgia State University to study nursing and become a pediatric oncology nurse practitioner. Miss America 2012, the 85th Miss America pageant, was held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts of Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada on Saturday, January 14, 2012. Miss America 2011, Teresa Scanlan from Nebraska, crowned her successor Laura Kaeppeler from Wisconsin at the end of this event. It was broadcast live on ABC. All 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico competed for the title.

Mallory Hytes Hagan is an American politician and former beauty queen who won Miss America 2013 as Miss New York 2012. She moved to New York in 2008 after her first year of college at Auburn University. Prior to winning Miss America, Hagan was also Miss Brooklyn 2010, Miss Manhattan 2011, Miss New York City 2012 and a two-time Miss New York first runner-up. Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2007 was the 2nd Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant held at the Linda Chapin Theater in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on August 19, 2006. At the conclusion of the event, Meghan Miller of Texas crowned her successor Maria DeSantis of New York. The pageant was hosted by Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry and N'SYNC singer Joey Fatone.
