The University of Lagos,popularly known as UNILAG,is a public research university located in Lagos,Nigeria and was founded in 1962. UNILAG is one of the first generation universities in Nigeria and is ranked among the top universities in the world in major education publications. The university presently has three campuses in the mainland of Lagos. Whereas two of its campuses are located at Yaba,it's college of medicine is located at Idi-Araba,Surulere. Its main campus is largely surrounded by the Lagos lagoon and has 802 acres of land. The University of Lagos currently admits over 9,000 undergraduate students annually and enrolls over 57,000 students.
Lagos Rail Mass Transit is a rapid transit system in Lagos State. The rail system is managed by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). The railway equipment including electric power,signals,rolling stock,and fare collection equipment will be provided by the private sector under a concession contract. LAMATA is responsible for policy direction,regulation,and infrastructure for the network. The first section of the network,Phase I of the Blue Line,was originally planned to be completed in 2011,though the construction has suffered many delays caused by shortage of funds and change of government. The Blue Line opened on September 4,2023 and the Red Line is set to open in early 2024.

Incumbent APC Governor Akinwunmi Ambode lost to the APC flag bearer Babajide Sanwo-Olu at a direct primary election in October 2018 and hence ineligible to run for second term under APC. Babajide Sanwo-Olu won in a landslide against Jimi Agbaje of the PDP who had previously run unsuccessfully for Lagos state governor twice. From 1999,Lagos state has been governed by AD,AC,then ACN,three parties which subsequently formed part of the coalition that birthed the APC in 2013.
