The Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak, Malaysia. It is located at the downstream of Kangsar River where it joins the Perak River, approximately 25 km (16 mi) northwest of Ipoh, Perak's capital, and 98 km (61 mi) southeast of George Town, Penang. Shamsul Anuar bin Nasarah is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail since December 2022 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lenggong since March 2008. He served as the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin from March 2020 to his resignation in August 2021. He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has also served as President of the Malaysian Youth Council. His appointment as a deputy minister in December 2023 is rare in Malaysian politics since he was a former federal minister in the Muhyiddin cabinet back in March 2020. This has rarely happened in the Malaysian politics. He is one of the three deputy ministers who were previously a federal minister alongside M. Kulasegaran and Noraini Ahmad.

The Lanoh are a group classified as "Orang Asli" of the Semang branch by the government of Malaysia. They live in the Malay Peninsula and number around 390. They are also known as Sabub'n or Lano. However, the Lanoh community in Gerik and Lenggong, Perak would identify to themselves as Menik Semnam, a name that refers to the Lanoh people that lived at the Semnam River. Siti Zuraina Abdul Majid is a historian and considered to be the first archaeologist in Malaysia, who has won the Merdeka Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement in 2020. Siti Zuraina has investigated and excavated many sites in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. She has also worked in many important excavations for the lower Paleolithic period in Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Siti Zuraina has been credited with laying the foundation to develop the field of archaeology in Malaysia since the 1970s. For her contributions to archaeology, she has received an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree.
