Leon Rattigan (born 4 October 1987) [1] is a British freestyle wrestler who is in the Great Britain national squad. [2] He started Freestyle Wrestling at the age of ten in Bristol Olympic Wrestling Club under the late legendary coach Amir Esmaeli. Rattigan has won the British Senior Championships and the English Senior Championships multiple times in his wrestling career. [3] [4] [5] Rattigan competed in the 96 kg class in the 2009 world championship for GBR and also won the gold medal in the British Senior Championships 2009. [6] [7] Rattigan won the bronze medal for England in the men's freestyle 96 kg event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India in October 2010. [8] During 2011, Rattigan has also won the British Open wrestling championships [9] and the Sassari International Tournament. [10]
In 2013, Rattigan won the British Open wrestling championships [11] and was selected to represent Great Britain at the FILA International Olympia Tournament where he secured a silver medal. [12] Leon Rattigan is also the head coach in WLWC where he is preparing young athletes for the upcoming competitions and giving people in the community a chance to enjoy the sport of Freestyle Wrestling.
Cael Norman Sanderson is an American former folkstyle and freestyle wrestler who is the current head coach of Penn State's wrestling team. As a wrestler, he won an Olympic gold medal and was undefeated in four years of college wrestling at Iowa State (159–0), becoming a four-time NCAA Division I champion (1999–2002).
Greco-Roman, Graeco-Roman, or classic wrestling (Euro-English) is a style of wrestling that is practiced worldwide. Greco-Roman wrestling was included in the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and has been in every edition of the summer Olympics held since 1904. This style of wrestling forbids holds below the waist, which is the main feature that differentiates it from freestyle wrestling. This restriction results in an emphasis on throws, because a wrestler cannot use trips to bring an opponent to the ground or hook/grab the opponent's leg to avoid being thrown.
Tonya Lynn Verbeek is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. Verbeek was the first woman to win a wrestling medal for Canada when she took silver in 2004, she added to that with a bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a second silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She has also won two bronze and a silver at the world championships and has a bronze and silver from the Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games respectively.
Zevegiin Oidov is a retired Mongolian wrestler. At the 1976 Summer Olympics he won the silver medal in the freestyle 62 kg class. He also won two world champion titles, in 1974 and 1975 in the 62 kg class. In 1977 competing in the freestyle 68 kg class he came in second, taking the Bronze medal.
Leslie Lyle Gutches is an American former wrestler and coach. His accomplishments include becoming a World Champion in freestyle wrestling at the 1997 World Wrestling Championships, the Dan Hodge Trophy as the nation's best college wrestler in 1996, becoming the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) champion in the 177 lb. weight division in both 1995 and 1996, earning All-American status in 1994, 1995 & 1996, becoming a member of the 1996 United States Olympics freestyle wrestling team and winning numerous other tournaments and honors.
Reza Yazdani, nicknamed The Leopard of Juybar, is an Iranian wrestler and two time World Champion who won Gold in the 2011 World Wrestling Championships and 2013 World Wrestling Championships in the 96 kg division. He also won the gold medal in 2006 Asian Games in the 84 kg division and the gold medal in 2010 Asian Games in the 96 kg division, as well as the gold medal in 2014 Asian Games in 97 kg division. He competed in the London 2012 Olympics and also defeated Abdusalam Gadisov but was injured in the semi-final versus his Ukrainian competitor, Valeriy Andriytsev. Yazdani came back from injury for the 2013 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, where he won the gold medal in the 96 kg division by defeating khetag Gazyumov of Azerbaijan in the finals by a score of 4-2.
Yana Rattigan is a Ukrainian born wrestler who competes internationally for Great Britain and England. She competed in the 2009 World Wrestling Championships finishing 5th in the 48 kg category and was 7th in the same weight category at the 2010 World Wrestling Championships. Her most notable performance came in the 2010 European Wrestling Championships where she won a silver medal, a feat repeated in 2013. She was the first woman to win a medal at European championship level for Britain. In 2014, representing England she again won the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Yuri Maier is an Argentine Olympic wrestler who has won multiple international titles representing his country and individually. Among his most outstanding results, he has been awarded 12 medals at Pan American Championships in several different age categories, making him the top Argentinian medalist in wrestling history. He also received the Revelation Sports Clarín Award in 2004, winner of the Jorge Newbery award in 2005 as the best athlete of the City of Buenos Aires in this field. He was nominated many times for the best Argentinian athlete award.
Kuramagomed Sharipovich Kuramagomedov is a freestyle wrestler who competed for Russia in the 2004 Summer Olympics and won a world title in 1997 at 97 kg. He also represented Russia at the World Championships in 1998, where he won bronze at 97 kg. From 2003 to 2005, he competed for Russia at 120 kg. He won a silver medal at the 2005 World Championships.
Mark Cocker is a freestyle wrestler, Ju-Jitsu and Judo player who trains with Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club. Cocker is a British and English freestyle wrestling champion and has competed for England and Great Britain for fifteen years. He is also a 1st Dan black belt in Judo under Steve Pullen MBE and 1st Dan Black Belt in Ju-Jitsu under Professor Trevor Roberts.
David Zilberman is a Canadian Olympic freestyle wrestler. He is a two-time Canadian champion. In 2003, he won a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships, wrestling at 84 kg. In 2004, he won a silver medal at the FISU World University Championships, at 84 kg. In 2005, he won the Canada Cup gold medal, and the Commonwealth Wrestling Championships silver medal. He took 5th in the 2006 World Championships, and won a silver medal at the 2006 FISU World University Championships. He won a gold medal at the 2007 Senior Canadian National Championships.
Alan McClatchey is a Scottish former swimmer who competed at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and won a bronze medal as a member of the British 4x200-metre freestyle relay with Gordon Downie, David Dunne and Brian Brinkley. He swam for Warrender Baths Club in Edinburgh, Scotland. He also swam for the University of Michigan's intercollegiate team while studying there.

Hafize Şahin is a Turkish female freestyle wrestler competing in the 59 kg division. She is a member of the Trakya Birlik SK in Edirne, where she is coached by Habil Kara. She continues her study in physical education and sports at Trakya University, which she began at Aksaray University.

Satyawart Kadian is an Indian wrestler. He first represented India at the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympics where he won a bronze medal in the boys' freestyle 100 kg category. He then represented India in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and won a silver medal in the 97 kg weight class.
J'den Michael Tbory Cox is an American retired freestyle wrestler and folkstyle wrestler who competed at 92 kilograms. In freestyle, Cox was a two-time World Champion at 92 kilos, and while competing at 86 kilos, he claimed a bronze medal from the 2016 Summer Olympics and a 2017 World Championship bronze medal. During college, Cox wrestled for the Missouri Tigers, and was a three-time NCAA Division I national champion and four-time Mid-American Conference champion, becoming one of the most accomplished Tigers in the program's history.
Mausam Khatri is a freestyle wrestler from India. He was a bronze medallist in the 2010 Asian Games. He has also been Commonwealth champion twice, along with being the winner of gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games.
The 1946 European Wrestling Championships were held in 20–22 October 1946 Stockholm, Sweden. The competitions were held only in freestyle wrestling.
Jasmit Singh Phulka is a Canadian freestyle wrestler. As of July 2023, he is ranked 35 by UWW. In 2018, Phulka debuted at the World Wrestling Championships which was held in Budapest.
