Leonard Chemutai (born 5 May 2003) is a Ugandan track and field athlete. [1]

Career

Chemutai finished seventh in the Men's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. [2]

In August 2022, he finished fourth in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia. [3]

Chemutai won the U20 classic mountain race at the Trail World Championships in 2022. [4] In 2023, he won the senior race at the championships. [5]

Selected for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, [6] he qualified for the final of the 3000m steeplechase, in which he finished twelfth. [7]

In June 2024, he won gold in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the African Championships in Douala, Cameroon. [8] He competed at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in the 3000 metres steeplechase, placing 15th in the final. [9]

Barega is a two-time 3,000 metres World Indoor Championship medallist, taking silver in 2018, and a gold in 2022.

Lamecha also won a silver in the 3,000 metres at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. He is the world indoor record holder for the 3,000 metres, which was set in February 2023. In June 2023 at the Meeting de Paris of the Diamond League, he broke the world record for the men's 3,000 metres steeplechase.

Ilona Mononen is a Finnish runner. She has won national indoor championship titles over 3000 metres and 5000 metres. She is the Finnish national record holder in the 3000 metres steeplechase.

The women's 3000 metres steeplechase at the 2024 Summer Olympics was held in two rounds at the Stade de France in Paris, France, on 4 and 6 August 2024. This was fifth time that the women's 3000 metres steeplechase was contested at the Summer Olympics. A total of 36 athletes qualified for the event by entry standard or ranking.

Loice Chekwemoi is a Ugandan steeplechaser. In 2024, she became African champion in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the age of 17.
