The Lethbridge Longhorns were a junior "A" ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) based in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
The Lethbridge Longhorns were originally the Lethbridge Sugar Kings, one of the five original member hockey teams of the AJHL. [1] The Sugar Kings folded following the 1972–73 season due to the forthcoming arrival of major junior hockey to Lethbridge. [1] A new ownership group saved the team and renamed it the Longhorns in time for the 1973–74 season. The team only lasted two seasons however, folding after the 1974–75 season due to competition with major junior hockey. [1] The Lethbridge Broncos of the Western Hockey League arrived from Swift Current in 1974.

The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a major junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. The WHL is one of three leagues that constitutes the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) as the highest level of junior hockey in Canada. Teams play for the Ed Chynoweth Cup, with the winner moving on to play for the Memorial Cup, Canada's national junior championship. WHL teams have won the Memorial Cup 19 times since the league became eligible to compete for the trophy. Many players have been drafted from WHL teams, and have found success at various levels of professional hockey, including the National Hockey League (NHL).
The Edmonton Oil Kings were a Canadian junior ice hockey team, and founding member of the Western Hockey League. They played at Edmonton Gardens in Edmonton, Alberta, and later Northlands Coliseum. In 1976, they moved to Portland, Oregon to become the Portland Winter Hawks. A second incarnation of the team played only one season in 1977–78 before moving to Great Falls, Montana.
The Doyle Cup is an ice hockey trophy won through a best-of-7 series conducted annually by the Canadian Junior Hockey League to determine the Pacific region berth in the Centennial Cup, the national Junior A championship. From 1971 to 2021, the series was played between the Fred Page Cup champions of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and the Enerflex Cup champions of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), except from 2013 to 2017 when it was replaced by the Western Canada Cup. Its future status is uncertain because of the BCHL's withdrawal from the CJHL after the 2020–21 season. The current trophy was donated in 1984 by Pete Doyle, a Penticton, British Columbia businessman, replacing the Pacific Centennial Cup that two leagues competed for from 1971 to 1984.

The Pass Red Devils were a Junior A ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League that played in the municipality of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, from 1972 to 1976. The team relocated to nearby Pincher Creek for two years before settling in Calgary as the Calgary Spurs.
