Lila Nath Shrestha (born 28 January 1962) is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. [2] He was the former Minister of Law,Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and also served as Minister of Women,Children and Senior Citizens . He joined politics as a student and has remained a prominent communist politician from Siraha District.
Born on 28 January 1962 to Jit Bahadur and Dhan Maya Shrestha,in Chandralalpur-2 of Siraha,he is a graduate in Law and has two children –a son and a daughter. [3]
He joined politics as a student in 1980,and went on to become a prominent member of the student wing of CPN ML,ANNFSU,and later the youth wing of CPN UML. [3] He was a long-time member and prominent leader of CPN UML in Siraha District,until the party's dissolution in 2018. [3] Following the merger of CPN UML and CPN (Maoist Centre),he was appointed the "District Incharge" of Siraha for the newly formed Nepal Communist Party (NCP). [4]
He was the candidate for the second constituent assembly in the 2013 election from CPN UML,but was defeated by Pushpa Kamal Dahal,chairman of the CPN (Maoist) party. [3]
He was finally elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in the 2017 legislative election. [5] He was elected from Siraha-3 constituency under the first-past-the-post system representing CPN UML of the left alliance. He defeated his nearest rival,Asheswor Yadav,by acquiring 23,227 votes to Yadav's 21,220. [6]

The Nepal Communist Party,abbreviated NCP is a defunct communist party which existed in Nepal from 2018 to 2021. It was founded on 17 May 2018,from the unification of two leftist parties,Communist Party of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal. The unification was completed by the Party Unification Coordination Committee,after eight months of negotiation. The two predecessor parties subsequently dissolved,making way for the new united party. The party retained the electoral symbol of the CPN (UML),the sun.

It has a history of getting banned from open political discourse,as well as multiple instances of embracing guerrilla insurgency,most notably,the Maoist insurgency in the 1990s and early 2000s that led to the Nepalese Civil War,claiming at least 17,000 lives.
Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe is a Nepali politician and the member of parliament. She has served as the Minister of Law,Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and as the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives. She has been active in politics for more than four decades as a communist leader in eastern Nepal. She holds a PhD in political science from Tribhuvan University. Before being elected the deputy speaker of the house,she was a central committee member of the CPN (UML).
Ganesh Singh Thagunna is a Nepali politician and former Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration .He is a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. Previously,he was also elected to the 2nd constituent assembly in 2013. He is a long time member of CPN UML. He is from Darchula District,where he won both the 2013 and 2017 elections from Darchula 1 (constituency).
Hem kumar Rai is a Nepali politician and a former member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He is also a member of the parliamentary Finance Committee. He won his seat from the Solukhumbu-1 constituency as a candidate from Communist Party of Nepal of the left alliance,by defeating his nearest rival Bal Bahadur KC of Nepali Congress. He garnered 20,747 votes to KC's 17,294. After his party united with CPN UML to form Nepal Communist Party (NCP),he became the new party's "co-incharge" for Solukhumbu district.
Indu Kumari Sharma is a Nepali communist politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. She was elected from CPN Maoist Centre under the proportional representation system. She represents Nepal Communist Party (NCP) which was formed after the election by the merger of her party with CPN UML.
Juli Kumari Mahato is a Nepali communist politician. She is a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal and the former Minister of Women,Children and Senior Citizens. She was elected from CPN UML under the proportional representation system.

The first Bagmati Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections in Nepal. 110 members were elected to the assembly,66 of whom were elected through direct elections and 44 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 1 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Dormani Poudel and Astalaxmi Shakya served as the chief ministers from the CPN (UML) and Rajendra Prasad Pandey served as chief minister from CPN during the term of the assembly. Sanu Kumar Shrestha served as the speaker of the assembly and Radhika Tamang served as the deputy speaker.
The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal,was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs),165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list,to the House of Representatives. The parliament convened for the first time on 9 January 2023.
