Lilygreen & Maguire are a Welsh pop rock duo formed in 2011. Jon Lilygreen and Jon Maguire signed with Warner Bros. Records [1] in 2011 and have since released three singles, Given Up Giving Up, Ain't Love Crazy and Come On Get Higher. [2]

Music career

2011: Formation

Before forming Lilygreen & Maguire both members were heavily involved in music. Lilygreen was Cyprus' 2010 entry to the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo [3] and Jon Maguire was producing music and a former member of Pop Punk band The Story So Far. [4] [5] Also, they were both in the band Editions. The pair met while Lilygreen was performing covers at an open mic night at the Kama Lounge in Newport. [6]

2012-2014: Have a Good Time All the Time

In 2012 Lilygreen & Maguire have supported Olly Murs and Westlife on their UK arena tours. [7] The duo also did an open-air busking tour of Wales, stopping at Bangor, Wrexham, Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, Swansea, Barry, Caerleon, Caerphilly, Cardiff and Newport. [8] In October 2012 they have supported Scouting For Girls on tour also. In November 2012, Lilygreen & Maguire announced via Twitter that they would be releasing a new single in 2013 called "Dear Photograph". The song was inspired by the popular blog Dear Photograph.[ citation needed ] They have teamed up with Taylor Jones who runs DearPhotograph.com to construct the music video. [9] They were due to release their debut studio album Have a Good Time All the Time on 4 November 2013, including previous singles, B-Sides and brand new songs.

2014: Breakup

Lilygreen and Maguire announced in January 2014 on their Facebook page that they are splitting up because '2013 was a tough year'. [10] In June 2014 they announced that they were reforming, and soon released the single 'Counting Cars'.

Songwriting

As songwriters the duo have worked alongside writers such as Gregg Alexander, Roy Stride, Peter Vettese, Ricky Ross and Karen Poole. [11]

Scooch is a British bubblegum dance group, comprising performers Natalie Powers, Caroline Barnes, David Ducasse and Russ Spencer.

Son of Dork were a British pop punk band formed by James Bourne after his previous band, Busted, split in January 2005. "Save Your Kisses for Me" was the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, performed for the United Kingdom by Brotherhood of Man in The Hague, Netherlands. The lyrics and music were written by Tony Hiller, Lee Sheriden, and Martin Lee, the latter two being members of the band. The United Kingdom has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 63 times. It first took part in the second contest in 1957 and has entered every year since 1959. Along with Sweden and the Netherlands, the UK is one of only three countries with Eurovision victories in four different decades. It is one of the "Big 5" countries, along with France, Germany, Italy and Spain, who are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The British public broadcaster, the BBC, broadcasts the event and organises the national selection to choose the entry. The United Kingdom has won the Eurovision Song Contest five times, and has finished as runner-up on a record fifteen occasions. Cyprus participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 and selected their entry through a national final, organised by Cypriot broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC). After an open call to performers to submit proposals, ten entries were shortlisted for the 7 February national final. Deep Zone and their song "Play" were disqualified after the song was found to have been unofficially released before the final, breaching the contest's rules and leaving nine to compete in the final. Welsh singer Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders were chosen as the Cypriot entry on 7 February with their song "Life Looks Better in Spring" and competed in the second half of the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010.

The song, produced by Jon Gregory and performed by Jon Lilygreen and The Islanders, represented Cyprus at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, competing in the second semi-final on 27 May, and qualifying Cyprus to the final for the first time since 2005. University of South Wales University in Wales

The University of South Wales is a public university in Wales, with campuses in Cardiff, Newport and Pontypridd. American songwriter Desmond Child composed the song with British songwriters Lauren Christy and Christopher Braide. It was released as the album's lead single on 13 March 2013. The song was written to "uplift the world", and was completed by Child whilst having dinner with Tyler.

It has been traditionally a rock city since the 1970s, but it has evolved over the years into forms of punk, 1990s alt-rock, and more recently metal and hip-hop.
