Linden Anthony Joseph (born 8 January 1969) is a former Guyanese cricketer.
Joseph was born in January 1969 at Georgetown,Guyana. Having represented Guyana at Under-19 level, [1] Joseph made his debut in first-class cricket for Demerara against Berbice in the 1986–87 Guystac Trophy final at Georgetown. [2] In March 1987,he made his debut for Guyana in first-class cricket,against Barbados, [2] whilst also making his debut in List A one-day cricket the following month against Trinidad and Tobago in the 1986–87 Geddes Grant/Harrison Line Trophy. [3] Having appeared for a Young West Indies cricket team against the touring Zimbabweans in two first-class and three List A matches in October–November 1989, [2] [3] and for Guyana in the 1989–90 Red Stripe Cup, [2] Joseph was signed by English county side Hampshire ahead of the 1990 season on the recommendation of Malcolm Marshall. [4] He made just six first-class appearances for Hampshire,taking seven wickets at an expensive average of exactly 66; [5] his season at Hampshire was more notable for his batting,despite being in the team as a bowler. He scored 152 runs in five innings,being dismissed once and recording what would be highest first-class score of 69 not out against Oxford University. [4] He also made one List A appearance against the Combined Universities in the Benson &Hedges Cup. [3]
Joseph continued to play representative cricket for Guyana until 1995,making a total of 24 first-class and 19 one-day appearances. [2] [3] He took 67 wickets for Guyana in first-class matches,at an average of 27.74; [5] he twice took a five wicket haul,with his best bowling figures of 6 for 51 coming against Jamaica. [6] With the bat,he scored 459 runs at a batting average of 14.80,with a single half century score of 52. [7] In one-day cricket,he took 23 wickets at an average of 25.73,with best figures of 4 for 26. [8] In addition to playing first-class cricket for the aforementioned teams,Joseph also played twice each for the West Indies Under-23s and for the West Indies A. [2] His overall first-class bowling record with his right-arm fast bowling was 98 wickets at an average of 29.75. [4] While he did not return to English county cricket,Joseph did play in the Lancashire League for Enfield in 1991 and 1992. [4]
Tino la Bertram Best is a former West Indian cricketer. Since 2002,he has played domestic cricket for his native Barbados,with a season at English club Yorkshire in 2010. Best made his Test debut in May 2003 and played his first One Day International a year later. A back strain incurred in May 2004 prevented Best from playing cricket until March the following year. In 2008 Best signed to play in the Indian Cricket League because he had not played international cricket since 2006. He returned to the side when the West Indies fielded a side weakened by contract disputes between leading players and the West Indies Cricket Board but was dropped shortly after.
Shivnarine "Shiv" Chanderpaul CCH is a Guyanese cricket coach and former captain of the West Indies cricket team. Considered one of the greatest batsmen of his era,Chanderpaul is the 10th highest run scorer of all time in International cricket and the 9th highest in Test cricket. Chanderpaul was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy,and in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy Final,he had the highest contribution for West Indies with the bat,scoring 47 runs.
Malcolm Denzil Marshall was a Barbadian cricketer. Primarily a fast bowler,Marshall is widely regarded as one of the greatest and one of the most accomplished fast bowlers of the modern era in Test cricket. He is often acknowledged as the greatest West Indian fast bowler of all time,and certainly one of the most complete fast bowlers the cricketing world ever saw. His Test bowling average of 20.94 is the best of anyone who has taken 200 or more wickets. He achieved his bowling success despite being,by the standards of other fast bowlers of his time,a short man –he stood at 180 cm,while most of the great quicks have been well above 183 cm and many great West Indian fast bowlers,such as Joel Garner,Curtly Ambrose,and Courtney Walsh,were 197 cm or above. He generated fearsome pace from his bowling action,with a dangerous bouncer. He also statistically went on to become the most successful Test match bowler of the 1980s with 235 wickets with an average of 18.47 within a time period of just five years. Marshall was a part of the West Indies team that won the 1979 Cricket World Cup as well as the team which reached the 1983 Cricket World Cup Final,but lost to India by 43 runs.
Greville Thomas Scott Stevens was an English amateur cricketer who played for Middlesex,the University of Oxford and England. A leg-spin and googly bowler and attacking batsman,he captained England in one Test match,in South Africa in 1927. He was widely regarded as one of the leading amateur cricketers of his generation who,because of his commitments outside cricket,was unable to fulfil his potential and left the game early.
Dominic Gerald Cork is a former English county and international cricketer. Cork was a right-handed lower-order batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium,and was renowned for his swing and seam control. In 1995,he took the best figures for an England bowler on Test debut,with 7 for 43 in the second innings against the West Indies.
Arthur James Ledger Hill was an English cricketer and played Test cricket for England in 1896. In first-class cricket,he began his career playing for Cambridge University while studying at Jesus College,Cambridge. He would play the majority of his first-class cricket for Hampshire,for whom he made 161 appearances between 1895 and 1921. Early in his career,Hill was a "useful fast bowler" and would take 305 first-class wickets during his career,the majority of which came prior to 1900. As a batsman,he scored over 10,000 runs in first-class cricket,recording nineteen centuries. He was notable for scoring the first-ever first-class century in India,which he made touring with Lord Hawke's XI in January 1893. His sporting endeavours also extended to rugby union and field hockey,with him representing Hampshire in both.
Dwayne Romel Smith is a former Barbadian international cricketer who has represented the West Indies in all three formats of the game. An all-rounder,he is known as an aggressive and powerful right-handed batsman,bowls medium pace,and is also an athletic fielder. Smith was a part of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup.
The Providence Stadium or Guyana National Stadium is a sports stadium in Guyana,replacing Bourda as the national stadium. The stadium was built specifically to host Super Eight matches in the 2007 Cricket World Cup held in March and April 2007.
Kyle William Hogg is an English former cricketer. He was a left-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played for Lancashire from 2001 to 2014. Between 2000–01 and 2002 Hogg represented the England under-19s in six youth Tests and 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs). In the 2006–07 season he travelled to New Zealand where he represented Otago as an overseas player. Hogg spent time on loan with Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire,both in 2007.

Captaining both the West Indies at youth level and Guyana,Johnson is tied with Tamar Lambert of Jamaica as the most successful captain in West Indian first class cricket tournaments.
Thomas Munkholt Hansen is a Danish former cricketer. In 1997,Hansen became the third Dane,after Ole Mortensen and Soren Henriksen,to play English county cricket when he joined Hampshire. His first-class career with Hampshire was brief,playing just four matches in three seasons. After leaving Hampshire,Hansen established himself as a regular in the Danish cricket team,representing it in the ICC Trophy and List A one-day cricket,until 2009.

Alan Robert Wassell is an English former first-class cricketer who played for Hampshire between 1957 and 1966. A member of their 1961 County Championship winning team,he took 320 wickets from 121 first-class matches for Hampshire as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler.
Arthur Jaques was an English first-class cricketer and British Army officer. Having initially played first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club on a tour of the West Indies in early 1913,Jaques played first-class cricket in the County Championship for Hampshire County Cricket Club in 1913 and 1914,forming a successful bowling partnership with Alec Kennedy. In his two seasons playing for Hampshire,he took 168 wickets and was due to inherit the captaincy for the 1915 season,however the onset of the First World War meant he would never get the opportunity to captain Hampshire. Jaques would serve in the war with the West Yorkshire Regiment and was subsequently killed in action in September 1915 at the Battle of Loos.
