Lindsay Dougherty (born 1983or1984 [1] ) is an American labor leader. Since May 2022, she has been Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 399. In that capacity she represents more than 6500 Hollywood workers. Dougherty is also director of the Teamsters Motion Picture and Theatrical Trade Division and Western Region Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In all three positions, she is the first woman to hold the role.
Dougherty grew up in Detroit, where her father Pat Dougherty was a Teamster for 40 years and served as Secretary-Treasurer of Local 337. [2]
As a teenager in 2001, Dougherty had her first job in the movie business as a background actor in the film 61* . [2] She subsequently worked in transportation. [2]
In 2006 Dougherty moved to Los Angeles and joined Local 399. [3] In 2014 she became a business agent for the local, and the next year an organizer. [3] In 2021, she served as the point person for the Teamsters’ negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). [3] The resulting contract secured a three-percent annual wage increase, as well as increased health and pension contributions. [3]
In November 2021, while Recording Secretary of Local 399, Dougherty was elected Western Region Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) on a slate with Sean O'Brien, in his successful campaign to become IBT President. [4] She assumed the role on March 22, 2022, when she was also appointed by O’Brien to be director of the Teamsters’ Motion Picture and Theatrical Trade Division. [5] When Steve Dayan retired in May 2022, [6] Dougherty was appointed Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 399; she was re-elected on an unopposed slate in September 2022. [7] In that capacity she represents more than 6500 Hollywood workers. [3] In all three positions, Dougherty is the first woman to hold the role. [2]
During the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, Doughtery became "the strike's secret weapon", according to Vanity Fair. [8] Notably she delivered a speech that drew a standing ovation for the line: "And what I’d like to say to the studios is, 'If you want to fuck around, you’re gonna find out.'" [9]
Dougherty’s sister, husband, father-in-law and stepson are all Teamsters as well. [1] She has a tattoo on her left arm of Jimmy Hoffa, who served as the president of the Teamsters from 1957 to 1971. [10]

James Phillip Hoffa, also known as James Hoffa Jr. or Jim Hoffa, is an American labor leader and attorney who was the tenth General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He is the son of Jimmy Hoffa. Hoffa was first elected in 1998, and re-elected in 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016 to five-year terms. In 2018, Hoffa was elected chair of the Road Transport Section of the International Transport Workers' Federation at its quadrennial Congress in Singapore. Hoffa is the second-longest serving General President of the Teamsters Union, after Dan Tobin, who served from 1907 to 1952. Hoffa's final term as General President ended in 2022.

Ronald Robert Carey was an American labor leader who served as president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1991 to 1997. He was the first Teamster General President elected by a direct vote of the membership. He ran for re-election in 1996 and won, but in 1997 federal investigators discovered that the Carey campaign had engaged in an illegal donation kickback scheme to raise more than $700,000 for the 1996 re-election effort. His re-election was overturned, Carey was disqualified from running for Teamsters president again, and he was subsequently expelled from the union for life. Although a federal jury ultimately cleared him of all wrongdoing in the scandal, the lifetime ban remained in place until his death.

The 2021 leadership election for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters occurred after the General President James P. Hoffa announced his retirement. Ballots were mailed to eligible members of the North American union on October 4, 2021, and counting of the ballots began on November 15, 2021. On November 19, 2021, Sean O'Brien of the Teamsters United slate was declared the winner.

Reed first became a business agent for the Hawaii Government Employees Association (HGEA) in 1973, where his natural leadership and charisma attracted the attention of Hawaii labor leader Art Rutledge, who recruited him to be a business agent for Hawaii Teamsters Local 996 in 1975.
Ron Herrera is an American labor leader, who served as the President of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor until his resignation on October 10, 2022, following the disclosure of his presence during a conversation where racist comments were made regarding black & indigenous peoples. Herrera also served as the Secretary-Treasurer of his home union, Teamsters Local 396, until his resignation on October 10, 2022; he had become a Teamsters member there in 1975 while working as a United Parcel Service package driver.
From July 14 to November 9, 2023, the American actors' union SAG-AFTRA was on strike over a labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). As the longest strike in SAG-AFTRA history, its combined impact with the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike resulted in the loss of 45,000 jobs, and "an estimated $6.5 billion" loss to the economy of Southern California.

He joined the trade union in 2000 and has also held the roles of general counsel and chief operating officer. Crabtree-Ireland has been a judge pro tem of the Los Angeles County Superior Court and an adjunct professor at the USC Gould School of Law.
