Lions Basketball Club, also known as simply Lions, is a Namibian basketball team based in Windhoek. [1] The team plays in the Khomas Region's KBA Premier League. [2]

The team won the KBA Premier League title twice, in 2015 after suffering just one defeat in the season, [3] as well as in 2018.

In October 2019, under coach Anthony Williams Auchab, the Lions represented Namibia in the 2021 qualification tournaments for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), as the first Namibian team to play in the competition. [4] On 24 October 2019, they won their first game against South African side Jozi Nuggets, defeating them 74-67. [5] The Lions finished with in the 4th place of Group E with a 1-4 record. [6]

It is the country's only competitive basketball league and is thus seen as the national top level. The league is organised by the Khomas Basketball Association (KBA), which is located in Windhoek. Because of its high level of competition, teams from other regions have also played in the league, and the Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) has given the association a mandate to host a national tournament and form a national team.

UNAM Wolves is a Namibian basketball club based in Windhoek. The team is affiliated with the University of Namibia and began competitive play in 2012, as the UNAM Rebels. The Wolves play in the KBA Premier League, the nation's premier league that is organised by the Khomas Basketball Association.

Nkosinathi Sandile Sibanyoni is a South African professional basketball player for Urunani of the Burundian Basketball Championship, as well as for the Cape Town Tigers of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) and Basketball National League (BNL). Standing at 2.08 m, he plays as center and has also played for the South Africa national team. Sibanyoni has been a key part of the Tigers in their BAL seasons and holds the record for most rebounds in a BAL game. He is nicknamed "Nathi".
