[1] [2] She was also the co-founder, CEO and chairman of Ofoto, a digital photography company, which sold to Eastman Kodak. In 1993, Gansky co-founded Global Network Navigator (GNN), the first commercial web site and portal, with Tim O'Reilly and Dale Dougherty. GNN was purchased by America Online in 1995 while Gansky was CEO of the company. [5] Following the acquisition, Gansky moved to AOL and became Vice President of Internet Properties and Services, overseeing Webcrawler, GNN, internet software, AOL internet investments (ivillage), and online advertising and e-commerce.[ citation needed ]

In 1999, she co-founded Ofoto, a digital photography company, and served as chairman and CEO. [6] [5] During her time as CEO, the company sold to Eastman Kodak in 2001. [5] Following the acquisition, she became general manager of Eastman Kodak Company's Digital Imaging Services division. [7] Ofoto later became Kodak Gallery. [8] [9]

Gansky's book, entitled The Mesh: Why the Future of Business is Sharing, was released in 2010. [10] [5] In July 2010,[ citation needed ] she launched the Global Share Economy (Mesh) Directory to support the community of share-based businesses and organizations. [9]

The Global Network Navigator (GNN) was the first commercial web publication and the first web site to offer clickable advertisements. GNN was launched in May 1993, as a project of the technical publishing company O'Reilly Media, then known as O'Reilly & Associates. In June 1995, GNN was sold to AOL, which continued its editorial functions while converting it to a dial-up Internet Service Provider. AOL closed GNN in December 1996, moving all GNN subscribers to the AOL dial-up service.

The Kodak Gallery was Kodak's consumer online digital photography web site. It featured online photo storage, sharing, viewing on a mobile phone, getting Kodak prints of digital pictures, and creating personalized photo gifts. The service was originally launched in 1999 as Ofoto, and was acquired by Kodak in 2001, renamed Kodak EasyShare Gallery in 2005, and shortly thereafter shortened to Kodak Gallery. At its peak in 2008, it served over 60 million users and billions of images. Subsequent to the bankruptcy of the parent Kodak, Shutterfly placed a stalking horse bid on Kodak Gallery on March 1, 2012, for $23.8 million. Kodak Gallery was shut down on July 2, 2012. Photos were transferred to Shutterfly.
