Lisa Shaw is an R&B and house music singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Canada to Jamaican parents, Lisa Shaw was raised in Scarborough, Ontario the youngest of six kids. Growing up, Lisa was influenced by artists such as Sade, Billie Holiday, Stevie Nicks, Roberta Flack and Kate Bush. [1] Tagging along to clubs with her older sisters exposed her to disco/funk acts Chic, Sister Sledge, The S.O.S. Band and Kool & the Gang. [2] Shaw married David Winsett (DJ Swingsett) in 1995, and she moved to New York City then to live with him. [3] The couple is now divorced. [4]
Lisa Shaw's music career expanded when she arrived in New York City from Toronto. [3] Shaw is part of the underground electronica/deep house music communities. She debuted in 1995 with a single titled, "Makin' Love Makin' Music", written by DJ Smash.[ citation needed ] She has collaborated on deep house projects, most notably with producer/songwriter, Miguel Migs. Shaw released her debut solo album, Cherry , on October 25, 2005 on the Astralwerks label. [6] Shaw appears as a featured singer on Miguel Migs's 2007 album, Those Things. Kaba Modern used a remix of her single, "Grown Apart," on the first season of America's Best Dance Crew in 2008.[ citation needed ]
Shaw released her second album, "Free", in 2009 on Salted Music. [7] The album was produced by Dave Warrin, Tim K, Ethan White of Tortured Soul and Miguel Migs. [8] She performed the album at release on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, with producer Tim K and DJ Joshua Heath. [9]

Perfecto Presents: Another World is the twelfth DJ mix album by British electronic music producer Paul Oakenfold, released in 2000. It is the second instalment in his Perfecto Presents series, a series of DJ mix albums themed around Oakenfold's label Perfecto Records. The album employs Oakenfold's progressive trance sound and sees a return to the Goa trance sound he had helped popularise with Goa Mix (1994) and Perfecto Fluoro (1996). Similar to those albums, it also features a more eclectic array of music genres, featuring music from film soundtracks, the ethereal wave band Dead Can Dance and a remix of a Led Zeppelin song. Although the album received mixed reviews from critics, at the time of release, it became the biggest-selling DJ mix album in the United States, where it reached the Top 50 of the Top Electronic Albums chart.
Those Things is the second album by songwriter and music producer Miguel Migs, released in 2007. The album peaked at number 15 on the US Top Electronic Albums chart. It is an album that ranges from deep house to hip house, with each being solid productions overall. Those Things features vocal performances by Migs's main vocalist on his songs, Lisa Shaw, Aya, Tim Fuller, and reggae artist Junior Reid. The album features more live instrumentation than Migs' début album and includes a guest appearance by Fred Ross of Sly and the Family Stone. The lead single, "So Far", peaked at number six on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

X-Quisite was an R&B Canadian girl group. The trio made up of Nicole Holness, Melanie Fiona Hallim, Andreena Mill and later in 2003 new members, Terri Oliver & Nirvana Savoury were signed to Linus Entertainment soon after the group was established in 2002. The group released their self-titled debut studio album X-Quisite in 2003. In 2004, the album earned the group a Juno Award nomination for "R&B/Soul Recording of the Year". The group had a number of singles from their debut album, most notably "Bad Girl", "No Regrets" and "Sassy Thang". The group disbanded in 2005, with all three members moving on to pursue solo music careers.
Timothy John Kvasnosky, known profesionally as Tim K, is an American record producer, musician, and film score composer. Tim K composed the score to the 2015 Sundance Film Festival select I Am Michael, starring James Franco. In 2016, he scored "King Cobra" starring Christian Slater and James Franco which documented the real life murder of porn producer Bryan Kocis. As a producer and sideman has also worked with artists such as Sam Sparro, Ed Droste, Jake Shears, Rahzel, Lisa Shaw, Kat DeLuna, Dam Funk, Miguel Migs and DJ Colette. He is a member of the musical group Tiny Hearts. As a remixer, he produced 4 top 5 Billboard Club Play remixes. He has also scored commercials for Nike, Target, Corona, Friskies, Volkswagen, Bulgari, Google, McDonald's, and many others. His Friskies commercial composition "Adventureland" was featured during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Soul Clap is an American DJ and production duo from Boston, Massachusetts. Active in the club scene since 2001, the group has released a number of mixtapes, EPs, singles, and albums. In 2012 they released their first album, EFUNK. According to XLR8R, Soul Clap "[tempt] the listener into the darker, more abstract corners of house by dressing them up with smooth, jazzy trimmings." The BBC wrote "they blend neon-splattered nostalgia with a crisp futurism thanks to their experimental production techniques."

"Heart Is Full" is a song recorded by Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow for their third studio album, iii (2016). Written by the band alongside Vincent Pontare, the song contains elements from Marlena Shaw's 1967 recording of "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home", penned by Bob Hilliard and Burt Bacharach. "Heart Is Full" is an electropop and hip hop song with instrumentation provided by drums, horn and Wurlitzer electric piano. Described by the band as different from their other work, the song was selected as the album's lead single as vocalist Andrew Wyatt deemed it a "jarring reintroduction" following the band's three-year break. The single was released on 30 October 2015 through Jackalope and Atlantic.
