Lisa Shaw is an R&B and house music singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Canada to Jamaican parents, Lisa Shaw was raised in Scarborough, Ontario the youngest of six kids. Growing up, Lisa was influenced by artists such as Sade, Billie Holiday, Stevie Nicks, Roberta Flack and Kate Bush. [1] Tagging along to clubs with her older sisters exposed her to disco/funk acts Chic, Sister Sledge, The S.O.S. Band and Kool & the Gang. [2] Shaw married David Winsett (DJ Swingsett) in 1995, and she moved to New York City then to live with him. [3] The couple is now divorced. [4]
Lisa Shaw's music career expanded when she arrived in New York City from Toronto. [3] Shaw is part of the underground electronica/deep house music communities. She debuted in 1995 with a single titled, "Makin' Love Makin' Music", written by DJ Smash.[ citation needed ] She has collaborated on deep house projects, most notably with producer/songwriter, Miguel Migs. Shaw released her debut solo album, Cherry , on October 25, 2005 on the Naked Music label. [6] Her debut album peaked at number 20 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart in November 2005. [7] One of the album's singles, "Born to Fly," was reached number 25 on the Dance Singles Sales chart. [7]
Shaw appears as a featured singer on Miguel Migs's 2007 album, Those Things. Kaba Modern used a remix of her single, "Grown Apart," on the first season of America's Best Dance Crew in 2008.[ citation needed ]
Shaw released her second album, "Free", in 2009 on Salted Music. [8] The album was produced by Dave Warrin, Tim K, Ethan White of Tortured Soul and Miguel Migs. [9] She performed the album at release on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic, with producer Tim K and DJ Joshua Heath. [10]

Quando Quango were a British electronic music group, formed by The Haçienda DJ and Factory Records A&R man Mike Pickering, Hillegonda Rietveld and Reinier Rietveld. Their unique sound influenced the underground dance music scenes in New York and Chicago in the 1980s. Their first release was the "Go Exciting" twelve-inch single on Factory Records in 1982, and their last release of new music was the 1985 full-length album Pigs + Battleships.
Perfecto Presents: Another World is the twelfth DJ mix album by British electronic music producer Paul Oakenfold, released in 2000. It is the second instalment in his Perfecto Presents series, a series of DJ mix albums themed around Oakenfold's label Perfecto Records. The album employs Oakenfold's progressive trance sound and sees a return to the Goa trance sound he had helped popularise with Goa Mix (1994) and Perfecto Fluoro (1996). Similar to those albums, it also features a more eclectic array of music genres, featuring music from film soundtracks, the ethereal wave band Dead Can Dance and a remix of a Led Zeppelin song. Although the album received mixed reviews from critics, at the time of release, it became the biggest-selling DJ mix album in the United States, where it reached the Top 50 of the Top Electronic Albums chart.
Barclay Macbride Crenshaw, who is known by the stage name Claude VonStroke, is an American house producer based in Los Angeles. He owned Dirtybird Records based in San Francisco. In July 2006 he released his debut album, Beware of the Bird. He has produced a 'Fabric' mix, which was released in May 2009, and has also appeared on Pete Tong's Essential Mix Radio show in 2007, 2013, and 2020. In 2009, he released his second studio album, Bird Brain. In 2016, he was named America's Best DJ in Pioneer DJ and DJ Times’ annual poll. In 2017, he was nominated at the Electronic Music Awards for both DJ of the Year and Radio Show of the Year for "The Birdhouse".
Those Things is the second album by songwriter and music producer Miguel Migs, released in 2007. The album peaked at number 15 on the US Top Electronic Albums chart. It is an album that ranges from deep house to hip house, with each being solid productions overall. Those Things features vocal performances by Migs's main vocalist on his songs, Lisa Shaw, Aya, Tim Fuller, and reggae artist Junior Reid. The album features more live instrumentation than Migs' début album and includes a guest appearance by Fred Ross of Sly and the Family Stone. The lead single, "So Far", peaked at number six on the Hot Dance Club Play chart.
"People Hold On" is a song by British band Coldcut and singer-songwriter Lisa Stansfield, released as the first single from the band's debut album, What's That Noise? (1989). It was written by Matt Black, Jonathan More and Stansfield, and produced by Coldcut. The song received positive reviews from music critics and became a commercial success. It was released as a single on 13 March 1989 by label Ahead of Our Time and reached number eleven on the UK Singles Chart and number six on the US Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart. The song was remixed by Blaze, Juan Atkins, Dimitri from Paris, Mark Saunders, Eric Kupper, Tyrone Perkins and Masters at Work. A music video was produced to promote the single, directed by Big TV!.

Soul Clap is an American DJ and production duo from Boston, Massachusetts. Active in the club scene since 2001, the group has released a number of mixtapes, EPs, singles, and albums. In 2012 they released their first album, EFUNK. According to XLR8R, Soul Clap "[tempt] the listener into the darker, more abstract corners of house by dressing them up with smooth, jazzy trimmings." The BBC wrote "they blend neon-splattered nostalgia with a crisp futurism thanks to their experimental production techniques."

"Runaway" is a song by Nuyorican Soul, a project by the American house-garage production and remix team of "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez. It features Puerto Rican singer and songwriter India and was released in 1996 by Mercury Records and Talkin' Loud as the first and lead single from their debut album, Nuyorican Soul (1997). The song is a cover of The Salsoul Orchestra's recording "Run Away", featuring American singer Loleatta Holloway from 1977. The new version was very successful in clubs and reached number-one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the US. In Europe, it peaked at number 24 on the UK Singles Chart, but was even more successful on the UK Dance Chart, where it hit number-one. Additionally, it was a top-30 hit in Iceland, and a top-40 hit in Germany. On the Eurochart Hot 100, the song reached number 75 in February 1997.
