Lise Grande is an American who has served as the president of the United States Institute of Peace since December 1, 2020. [1] She has previously served in several positions at the United Nations.
Grande earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a master's degree from The New School. [2] [3]
From 2008 to 2012, she worked with the United Nations in South Sudan and held was the deputy representative of the Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator. From 2005 to 2008, she worked with the United Nations in the Republic of the Congo where she held the position of Head of the United Nations Integrated Office. From 2003 to 2005, she worked as the UNDP representative in Armenia.
Grande was previously a deputy special representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq. Grande was also the resident coordinator with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India. [4]
Grande is the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen. [5] As Resident Coordinator in Yemen, she is also the UN Humanitarian Coordinator (HC). [6]
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) was formed on 14 August 2003 by United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1500 at the request of the Iraqi government to support national development efforts.

Ameerah Haq is a Bangladeshi technocrat who served as United Nations Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support, the highest-ranking Bangladeshi official at the United Nations, from April 2012 until her resignation in July 2014. Subsequently, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed her as one of the co-chairs of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations. Haq also served as the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Timor-Leste and Head of the United Nations Integrated Mission in East Timor (UNMIT). Haq joined the UN in 1976.
Bo Schack is a Danish lawyer. On 5 January 2010 he was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in the Central African Republic. Alain Noudéhou, national of Benin is currently the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan. Mr. Noudéhou holds a master's degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University in the US and completed his undergraduate degree at Tsinghua University in China.
