Lise Grande is an American who has served as the president of the United States Institute of Peace since December 1, 2020. [1] She has previously served in several positions at the United Nations.

Education

Grande earned a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a master's degree from The New School. [2] [3]

Career

From 2008 to 2012, she worked with the United Nations in South Sudan and held was the deputy representative of the Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator. From 2005 to 2008, she worked with the United Nations in the Republic of the Congo where she held the position of Head of the United Nations Integrated Office. From 2003 to 2005, she worked as the UNDP representative in Armenia.

Grande was previously a deputy special representative of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq. Grande was also the resident coordinator with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India. [4]

Grande is the UN Resident Coordinator in Yemen. [5] As Resident Coordinator in Yemen, she is also the UN Humanitarian Coordinator (HC). [6]

Ameerah Haq is a Bangladeshi technocrat who served as United Nations Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Field Support, the highest-ranking Bangladeshi official at the United Nations, from April 2012 until her resignation in July 2014. Subsequently, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed her as one of the co-chairs of the High-Level Independent Panel on Peace Operations. Haq also served as the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Timor-Leste and Head of the United Nations Integrated Mission in East Timor (UNMIT). Haq joined the UN in 1976.

Bo Schack is a Danish lawyer. On 5 January 2010 he was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in the Central African Republic. This appointment is in addition to the nominations in October 2009 as the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, as well as UNDP Resident Representative in the country. Since 1985 he has been working for United Nations primarily in the humanitarian field.

Charles James Petrie OBE is a British diplomat. A former investment banker and management consultant, he then worked for the United Nations, before going independent.

Toby Lanzer, a national of the United Kingdom, is a former assistant secretary-general of the United Nations who recently served as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General in the UN's political office in Afghanistan, UNAMA. Secretary-General António Guterres appointed Lanzer to this position in January 2017, before which he served the United Nations in various peacekeeping, humanitarian and development roles:

Kaarina Immonen, a national of Finland was appointed as Deputy Special Representative in the Central African Republic by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 11 December 2012. Her new appointment also include serving as United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator.

Flavia Pansieri

Flavia Pansieri was the United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights at the level of Assistant Secretary-General. She was appointed to this position by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 15 March 2013, and resigned on 22 July 2015, departing on 31 December 2015 after the selection of her successor was announced.

Abdoulaye Mar Dieye is a Senegalese economist and public servant who has been serving as United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres' Special Coordinator for development in the Sahel since 2021. He previously held various positions within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Sigrid Agnes Maria Kaag is a Dutch diplomat and politician, serving as Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation in the Third Rutte cabinet since 26 October 2017 and as the leader of the Democrats 66 since 4 September 2020.

Edward Kallon United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria

Edward Kallon, is the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria. Kallon is also the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Nigeria (UNDP). He held a similar position for the past three years in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where he was also the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund in Jordan (UNFPA) and the Designated Official for Security.

Marta Ruedas is a United Nations civil servant who has worked in many countries around the world, initially with the United Nations Development Programme, including Bolivia, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Georgia, Nepal, Mongolia and Mexico, as well as at its headquarters in New York. The organization assists countries in reaching their targets in economic and social development. In 2015 she was the Country Director of the UNDP in Kabul, Afghanistan. In 2016 she was the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Sudan, and in 2018 she became the United Nations Deputy Special Representative and UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq.

Alain Noudéhou

Alain Noudéhou, national of Benin is currently the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan. Mr. Noudéhou holds a master's degree in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University in the US and completed his undergraduate degree at Tsinghua University in China.
