The pre-season transfer window opened on 1 December 2009, and closed on 22 February 2010 for domestic transfers, and on 2 March 2010 for foreign transfers. Players without a club may join one at any time, either during or in between transfer windows.

Coleraine Football Club is a semi-professional Northern Irish football club, playing in the NIFL Premiership, the highest level of the Irish League. The club, founded in 1927 hails from Coleraine, County Londonderry, and plays its home matches at The Showgrounds. Club colours are blue and white. The club won the Irish League title once and the Irish Cup on six occasions, most recently in 2017–18. They are also the only Irish League club to have won two successive all-Ireland competitions, lifting the Blaxnit Cup in 1969 and 1970. The club share a rivalry with Ballymena United.

A transfer window is the period during the year in which a football club can transfer players from other playing staff into their playing staff. Such a transfer is completed by registering the player into the new club through FIFA. "Transfer window" is the unofficial term commonly used by the media for the concept of "registration period" as described in the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players. According to the rules, each national football association decides on the time of the 'window' but it may not exceed 12 weeks. The second registration period occurs during the season and may not exceed four weeks.

Holywood Football Club is a Northern Irish intermediate football club playing in Division 1B of the Northern Amateur Football League. The club is based in Holywood, County Down, and was founded in 1983 by the amalgamation of Loughview Star and Holywood Town. Best player to come from the system being Connor Hindmarsh. During the 2022/23 season Chris Patton travelled to the Isle of Ibiza and came back a different player. This change, propelled him to a star 3rd team player under the management of Eamon Brady. However, the fame got to Pattons head and, in a wild turn of events during a very dramatic January transfer window, Patton made a big transfer to Crumlin Star. Management could not believe their eyes when the transfer request came through on comet. To make things worse, Patton made his debut for Crumlin Star against Holywood a few weeks later. The question being asked by all of amateur league was will he regret the move? The question was answered when Patton scored against Holywood and ran over to the Holywood sideline showing some vile hand signals to the bench. No respect was shown to his former club who made him the player he is today.
