The term today in Gaelic games typically describes a male player who plays both Gaelic football and hurling or, if a female player, a player of ladies' Gaelic football and camogie. The player does not necessarily have to play at the same standard in both sports. The number of dual stars at county level has decreased recently due to the increasing demands placed upon the best players of both sports.

Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA.

Denis Coughlan is an Irish former hurler, Gaelic footballer and manager who played for Cork Senior Championship clubs Glen Rovers and St. Nicholas'. As a dual player he played for the Cork senior teams for 15 years, during which time he played as a back, a midfielder and a forward. Coughlan is regarded as one of Cork's greatest-ever dual players.

St Michael's Gaelic Football Club is a Gaelic football club in Cork City, Ireland. The club was formed in 1951 after a discussion in The Leaping Salmon Public House in Blackrock near Cork. At that time some of the Blackrock hurlers played football with different city teams and it was decided to enter a football team from Blackrock, thus keeping the players together. A formal meeting was held and St Michael's Gaelic Football Club was established.

Bishopstown Hurling and Football Club is a Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Bishopstown area of Cork city, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1957. Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football are also featured in the club.

Ballinhassig is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Ballinhassig in County Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club was founded in 1886, and now plays Hurling at Premier Intermediate level, having won the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship in 2005, and the Cork Junior Hurling Championship in 2002.
Stemming from these County Championship wins, Ballinhassig competed in Munster and All-Ireland Club Championships, and have won the following Club Championship Finals: Junior Munster Club Final, Junior All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship Final, Intermediate Munster Club Final; but lost out to Dicksboro, of Kilkenny town, in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship Final, played in Croke Park. The club also plays Gaelic football, but hurling is much stronger. The club is a member of Carrigdhoun division of Cork GAA.

Ballincollig GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town of Ballincollig, County Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with the Cork GAA board and plays in the Muskerry divisional competitions. In 2009, the club will participate in the Cork Senior Football Championship and the Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Christopher D. Ryan was an Irish Gaelic footballer, hurler and coach. As a dual player for club and county, he played in several positions including as a defensive centre-back, in midfield, or as a target man in attack. Ryan has been described as one of Cork's most decorated club players of all time.

Castlemartyr GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Castlemartyr, Cork, Republic of Ireland. The club fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling. It is a member of the Imokilly division of Cork GAA.

St Vincent's Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Blarney Street and Sundays Well parts of Cork city, Ireland. It also includes in its catchment area Gurranabraher, Churchfield and Knocknaheeny. Teams are fielded in Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The club participates in Cork GAA competitions and in Seandún board competitions. The greatest achievements in the club's history was winning the 1968 Cork Intermediate Hurling Championship and the 2006 & 2012 Premier Intermediate Football Championship. As a result, they were promoted to senior status after both Premier Intermediate Football Championship wins but were not able to maintain senior status. The club now plays in the Premier Intermediate Football Championship and Junior A Hurling Championship.

Inniscarra GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Inniscarra, County Cork, Ireland. The club fields Gaelic football, hurling and camogie teams in competitions organized by Cork GAA county board and the Muskerry divisional board.

Mark O'Connor is an All Star winning former Gaelic footballer for Cork. He played football with his local club Bantry Blues in Cork and was a member of the Cork senior football team from 1990 to 1999. He also captained Cork in the 1996 league/championship campaign. He won an All-Ireland medal in 1990, and an All Star award in 1995, having also been nominated in 1993 and 1996 for consistent performances throughout the league and championships campaigns. He has also won 2 senior and 1 intermediate county championships with his club Bantry Blues.
