List of Fellows of the British Academy elected in the 1960s

The British Academy consists of world-leading scholars and researchers in the humanities and social sciences. Each year, it elects fellows to its membership. The following were elected in the 1960s.

The British Academy is the United Kingdom's national academy for the humanities and the social sciences. It was established in 1902 and received its royal charter in the same year. It is now a fellowship of more than 1,000 leading scholars spanning all disciplines across the humanities and social sciences and a funding body for research projects across the United Kingdom. The academy is a self-governing and independent registered charity, based at 10–11 Carlton House Terrace in London.

Sir Ernest Henry Phelps Brown, MBE, FBA was a prominent British economist.

Henry Chadwick was a British academic, theologian and Church of England priest. A former Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford – and as such, head of Christ Church, Oxford – he also served as Master of Peterhouse, Cambridge, becoming the first person in four centuries to have headed a college at both universities.

Oliver Shewell Franks, Baron Franks was an English civil servant and philosopher who has been described as 'one of the founders of the postwar world'.

Charles Kingsley Barrett, was a British biblical scholar and Methodist minister. He served as Professor of Divinity at the University of Durham and wrote commentaries on the Acts of the Apostles, John, Romans, 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians.

Thomas Sherrer Ross Boase was a British art historian, university teacher, and Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University.

Sir Alexander Kirkland "Alec" Cairncross was a British economist. He was the brother of the spy John Cairncross and father of journalist Frances Cairncross and public health engineer and epidemiologist Sandy Cairncross.

Richard David Barnett CBE FBA was the Keeper, Department of Western Asiatic Antiquities of the British Museum.

William Owen Chadwick was a British Anglican priest, academic, rugby international, writer and prominent historian of Christianity. As a leading academic, Chadwick became Dixie Professor of Ecclesiastical History from 1958 to 1968 and Regius Professor of History from 1968 to 1983. From 1956 to 1983, Chadwick was elected and served as the Master of Selwyn College, Cambridge.

Iorwerth Eiddon Stephen Edwards, — known as I. E. S. Edwards— was an English Egyptologist considered to be a leading expert on the pyramids.

Walter Horace Bruford, FBA was a British scholar of German literature.

Eleanora Mary Carus-Wilson was a British economic historian. She is known for her work on rural Medieval textile industries in England. She made significant contributions to the understanding of Medieval technology in the region.

Sir Howard Montagu Colvin was a British architectural historian who produced two of the most outstanding works of scholarship in his field: A Biographical Dictionary of British Architects, 1600–1840 and The History of the King's Works.

Charles Oscar Brink was a German-Jewish academic, Kennedy Professor of Latin at Cambridge University, and fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.

David Victor Glass FRS, FBA was an eminent English sociologist and was one of the few sociologists elected to the Royal Society. He is also one of the very few people to be elected both Fellow of the British Academy and Fellow of the Royal Society. He was professor of sociology at the London School of Economics, 1948–1978.

Richard Mervyn Hare, usually cited as R. M. Hare, was an English moral philosopher who held the post of White's Professor of Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford from 1966 until 1983. He subsequently taught for a number of years at the University of Florida. His meta-ethical theories were influential during the second half of the twentieth century.

The Burkitt Medal is awarded annually by the British Academy "in recognition of special service to Biblical Studies". Awards alternate between Hebrew Bible studies and New Testament studies. It was established in 1923 and has been awarded to many notable theologians. It is named in honour of Francis Crawford Burkitt.

Bedangadas Mohanty is an Indian physicist specialising in experimental high energy physics, and is affiliated to National Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhubaneswar. He was awarded the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 2015, the highest science award in India, in the physical sciences category. He has been elected as the fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi, Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and National Academy of Sciences, India.
