Senior marshal is an officer in the Sejm or Senate of Poland, presiding over the first sitting of the parliament house, appointed by the President of Poland. It is their role to conduct taking an oath by MPs and carry out election of the permanent leader of the house, who then takes the lead.
Robert Biedroń is a Polish politician, former mayor of Słupsk, and LGBT activist who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. He is the Chair of the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM) in the European Parliament.
The National Movement is a Polish far-right ultranationalist political party. It is led by Krzysztof Bosak. It claims spiritual descendance from the prewar movement of Roman Dmowski, the National Democracy, which was also commonly called the National Movement.
Andrzej Sebastian Duda is a Polish lawyer and politician who has been the sixth and current president of Poland since 2015. Before becoming president, he served as Member of the Sejm (MP) from 2011 to 2014 and as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from 2014 to 2015.
Grzegorz Michał Braun is a Polish politician. He served as a member of the Sejm for Rzeszów from 2019 to 2024. He has been Chairman of the Confederation of the Polish Crown since 2019 and a member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie since 2024.
Partia Razem is a centre-left to left-wing political party in Poland. It was founded in 2015, and from 2019 to 2024 party's official name was Lewica Razem.
Adrian Tadeusz Zandberg is a Polish historian, computer programmer, doctor of humanities, and left-wing politician serving as a member of the Sejm for Warsaw I. He is one of the co-leaders of Partia Razem.
Presidential elections were held in Poland on 28 June 2020. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 12 July, in which incumbent president Andrzej Duda, running with the support of Law and Justice, faced off against Civic Platform vice-chairman and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. In the second round Duda was re-elected for a second term with 51% of the vote, becoming the first incumbent to win re-election since Aleksander Kwaśniewski in 2000.
Rafał Kazimierz Trzaskowski is a Polish politician who has been serving as city mayor of Warsaw since 22 November 2018. He is also a political scientist specializing in European studies. He publicly supports European integration, the introduction of same-sex marriage, ecological transformation and a greater role for local governments in voivodeships.
The Confederation Liberty and Independence, frequently shortened to just Confederation, is a far-right political alliance in Poland. It was initially founded in 2018 as a political coalition for the 2019 European Parliament election in Poland, although it was later expanded into a political party in order to circumvent the 8% vote threshold for coalitions to enter the national parliament. It won 11 seats in the Sejm after the 2019 Polish parliamentary election. Its candidate for the 2020 Polish presidential election was Krzysztof Bosak, who placed fourth among eleven candidates.
The Left is a political alliance in Poland. Initially founded to contest the 2019 parliamentary election, the alliance now consists of the New Left and other smaller parties.
Przemysław Czarnek is a Polish politician and academic, who was voivode of the Lubelskie Voivodeship from 2015–2019. He was elected in 2019 as a member of the 9th Sejm as a member of Law and Justice. Czarnek is notable for his opposition to LGBT rights, his controversial comments on women's rights, and supporting corporal punishment for children. He filed a criminal case in opposition to the recognition of Ukrainian victims of the Home Army in the 1944 Sahryń massacre.
Magdalena Joanna Sroka is a Polish police officer and politician, serving as a member of the Sejm. She was the leader of Agreement political party between 2022 and 2023. Since 2023 she is a member of Polish People’s Party.
Krzysztof Kamil Gawkowski is a Polish politician, political scientist and writer. Member of the Sejm for the 9th and 10th parliamentary term, chairman of The Left's parliamentary club (2019-2023), vice-chairman of New Left, from 2023 Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Minister of Digital Affairs in Donald Tusk's third cabinet.
Bartosz (Bart)Staszewski (born 23 September 1990) is a Polish filmmaker and LGBT activist. He is the creator of the documentary Article Eighteen, co-founder of the Equality March in Lublin association and the Miłość Nie Wyklucza foundation ('Love Does Not Exclude'), which promotes same-sex marriage in Poland. Staszewski was the target of death threats and intimidation in 2019 and 2021 in relation to his activism.
Offending religious feelings is a blasphemy law in Poland. According to Article 196 of the Penal Code: "Whoever offends the religious feelings of other persons by publicly insulting an object of religious worship, or a place designated for public religious ceremonies, is liable to pay a fine, have their liberty limited, or be deprived of their liberty for a period of up to two years."
Dominik Tarczyński is a Polish politician and journalist, who has served as Member of the European Parliament (MEP) since 2020 and was a member of the Sejm (MP) from 2015 to 2020.
The New Left is a social-democratic political party in Poland. It is positioned on the centre and centre-left on the political spectrum. Its leaders are Włodzimierz Czarzasty and Robert Biedroń.
Wanda Traczyk-Stawska ps. "Pączek", „Atma” is a Polish psychologist and social activist. She was involved in the Polish underground resistance movement during World War II, a soldier of the Home Army, a member of the Gray Ranks, a participant in the Warsaw Uprising, and chairperson of the Social Committee for the Cemetery of Warsaw Insurgents.
Aleksandra Katarzyna Owca is a Polish lawyer and local politician, serving as a member of Kraków City Council since 7 May 2024. She has been a co-leader of Together Party since 3 December 2024.
