Syrian Argentines are Argentine citizens of Syrian descent or Syrian-born people who reside in Argentina. Argentina has the second highest number of Syrians in South America after Brazil. Syrian immigration to Argentina has been and is currently, one of the most important Arab migration flows into Argentina. Immigration waves peaked in the 20th century, although in recent years due to the constant wars in the Middle East, immigration from Syria has been increasing over time. Like other Arab Argentines, they are universally known as "turcos" ("Turks"), like in the rest of Latin American countries.

Omar Gutiérrez is an Argentine politician, who served as governor of the Neuquén Province from 2015 to 2023. He is the former minister of economy of the previous governor, Jorge Sapag. With his victory in the 2015 elections, the Neuquén People's Movement continued ruling the province after 53 years.

Carmen Lucila Crexell is an Argentine politician, currently serving as a National Senator for Neuquén Province since 2013. She is a member of the Neuquén People's Movement (MPN). In June 2024, Crexell was part of a national scandal when she announced, before the voting of the "Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines" proposed by President Javier Milei's administration took place in the Senate, that she would change her —initially negative— vote to a positive one while at the same time the government officially recommended her to occupy a seat as an Ambassador to UNESCO, in an apparent exchange for her positive vote on the project. Shortly after the Senate session and approval of the new Bases Law, Milei's administration officially admitted that Crexell's appointment to UNESCO was indeed a reward for her positive vote for the law, also considering in that regard that "there was no corruption" and that the alleged political deal was "part of the agreements and consensus" of the government with National Senators. Simultaneously, Crexell was prosecuted for bribery and the case ended up in judge Ariel Lijo's court.

Silvia Estela Sapag is an Argentine politician who has been a National Senator for Neuquén Province since 2019. A scion of the Sapag political family and a member of the Neuquén People's Movement, Sapag previously served as senator for Neuquén from 1998 to 2001, and as a National Deputy from 2008 to 2009. In the Senate, she sits in the Frente de Todos parliamentary bloc.
