The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a professional basketball league in the Philippines. Since its establishment in 2017, the league has played through six seasons and currently consists of 29 teams. Initially an amateur league, it gained professional status on December 2021. [1]

Notes

  1. The 2018 season had no division alignment, thus there were no division champions.
  2. The San Juan Knights and Davao Occidental Tigers tied for best record in the 2019–20 season. San Juan won the head-to-head matchup, thus winning the tiebreaker.
  3. The NavotasRizal game was not resumed for player safety. The game was later cancelled, thus both teams only played 29 games.
  4. The 2020–21 season, originally scheduled for June 12, 2020, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [5]
  5. The LagunaManila game was postponed due to volcanic smog. It was later cancelled, thus both teams only played 27 games.
  6. The San Juan Knights and Pampanga Giant Lanterns tied for best record in the 2024 season. San Juan won the head-to-head matchup, thus winning the tiebreaker.
  7. The 2024 season initially featured 30 competing teams. One expansion team, the Tarlac United Force, was pulled out by the league due to the team's failure to comply with financial obligations. [9]

Mon Alvin T. Abundo is a Filipino professional basketball player for Quezon Huskers of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was Blackwater’s seventh round pick in the 2015 PBA draft, making him one of the lowest-drafted players ever to make it to the PBA.

The 2018–19 MPBL season, also known as the MPBL Datu Cup, was the second season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. The regular season began on June 12, 2018 with the opening ceremonies Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, and ended on March 11, 2019. The league also held its first ever All-Star Game at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on March 2, 2019. The playoffs then began on March 12, 2019 and ended on April 25, 2019 when the San Juan Knights defeated the Davao Occidental Tigers in five games in the 2019 MPBL finals.

The 2019–20 MPBL season, also known as the MPBL Lakan Season or the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Season for sponsorship reasons, was the third season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League. It was also the last season of the league's amateur era, as they would turn professional in December 2021. The regular season began June 12, 2019 with the opening ceremonies at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, and ended on February 12, 2020. The 2020 MPBL All-Star Game was also held at the same venue on February 13, 2020. The playoffs then began on February 15, 2020.

The 2021 MPBL finals, originally called the 2020 MPBL finals and also known as the MPBL Lakan Cup finals, was the championship series of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's (MPBL) 2019–20 MPBL season, and the conclusion of the season's playoffs. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the league held the entire series in a bubble in Subic, Zambales. In the best-of-five playoff that saw a rematch of the previous season's finals, the South Division champion Davao Occidental Tigers beat the North Division champion San Juan Knights, 3–1, as they were crowned the league's third champions. Mark Yee was also named the season's Finals MVP.

Justine Sagaya Baltazar, nicknamed "Balti", is a Filipino professional basketball player who last played for the Pampanga Giant Lanterns of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He is listed at 6 feet 9 ½ inches.

Michael Vincent Galang Juico is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Pangasinan Heatwaves of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). He was drafted 30th overall in the 2017 PBA draft by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. Although he had a short PBA career, he has since won titles in other leagues, both in the amateur and professional level.

The 2024 MPBL season was the sixth season of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and its third under professional status. The regular season began on April 6, 2024 with the opening ceremonies at the Calasiao Sports Complex in Calasiao, Pangasinan, and ended on October 1. The 2024 MPBL All-Star Game was held at the Mayor Vitaliano D. Agan Coliseum in Zamboanga City on September 7. The playoffs began on October 5 and ended on December 7 with the 2024 MPBL finals between the Pampanga Giant Lanterns and Quezon Huskers.

The 2024 MPBL playoffs was the postseason tournament of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League's 2024 season, the league's sixth overall, and the fifth under the 16-team format. The postseason tournament began on October 5, four days after the conclusion of the regular season, and ended on December 7, 2024. For sponsorship reasons, this year's playoffs is also known as the 2024 MPBL Playoffs presented by Xtreme and MPBL Partylist.

The MPBL national finals or MPBL finals is the annual championship series of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL). The North and South Division champions compete in a best-of-five series to determine the league champion.

The Pampanga Giant Lanterns and San Juan Knights both joined the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) as expanion teams for its 2018–19 season. The two teams have consistently faced off in the playoffs, particularly in the mid-2020s when they are battling spot in the finals of both the MPBL and the Pilipinas Super League (PSL). As of November 11, 2024, San Juan and Pampanga tied the all-time series 7–7.
