Jamshedpur Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, that competes in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top flight of Indian Football. The new home for the team was decided to be the Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar.

The 2020–21 Indian Super League season was the seventh season of the Indian Super League (ISL) since its formation and the 25th season of the top division of the Indian football league system. The season started on 20 November 2020 and ended on 13 March 2021. It was hosted behind closed doors across three venues in Goa due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India.

The 2020–21 season was Bengaluru FC's eighth season as a club since its establishment in 2013.

The 2020–21 season was the 101st season of Sporting Club East Bengal. Established in 1920, the club celebrated its centennial on 1 August 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian football season started on 1 August 2020 and is scheduled to end on 31 May 2021, with competitive matches occurring between November and March. The club competed in the Indian Super League (ISL) for the first time and finished their first ISL season in ninth place with 17 points.

The 2022–23 season is the sixth season in Jamshedpur FC's existence, and their fifth season in the Indian Super League. This season of the ISL witnesses the return of the home-away format of the matches similar to that of the 2019–20 Indian Super League season after a break of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
