Paris Saint-Germain FC are a French professional football club based in Paris, currently playing in the Première Ligue. Founded in 1971, following the approval of women's football by the French Football Federation, the club have played 54 seasons, participating in 38 editions of the top division of French football, the Première Ligue; in twelve editions of the second division, the Seconde Ligue; and in eight editions of the top regional division of Île-de-France, the Ligue de Paris.

PSG signed 33 players for the 1971–72 season and began their journey in the Ligue de Paris, playing in regional leagues until their first promotion to the Première Ligue in the 1979–80 season. PSG oscillated between the Première Ligue and the Seconde Ligue for the next 22 years, being relegated three times. They finally settled in the Première Ligue after winning the Seconde Ligue title in 2001 and have not looked back since. The club's lowest finish in the Première Ligue to date is 12th, at the end of the 1994–95 season.

The Parisians enjoyed their best season to date in 2020–21, when they secured their first Première Ligue title with a club-record 62 points. Other notable campaigns include 2009–10, 2017–18, 2021–22, and 2023–24, in which they won the Coupe de France Féminine. The club also performed well in 2014–15 and 2016–17, reaching the UEFA Women's Champions League final in both seasons (2015 and 2017). In the 2016–17 and 2023–24 seasons, PSG scored 116 goals and played 38 matches in all competitions (club records). Finally, Marie-Antoinette Katoto set the club record for most goals scored in a season by a single player in 2021–22 (32 goals).
