The Philippines men's national basketball team, commonly known as Gilas Pilipinas, is the basketball team representing the Philippines. The team is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
José Rizal University, also referred to by its acronym JRU, is a private non-sectarian, non-stock coeducational basic and higher education institution located in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was founded in 1919 by Don Vicente Fabella, the Philippines' first certified accountant. José Rizal University is one of the schools situated in the east side of Mandaluyong, the others being the Plaridel Campus of Arellano University and Don Bosco Technical College.

The Philippine Basketball Association draft is an annual event dating back to 1985 in which the twelve teams from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) can draft players who are eligible and wish to join the league. The draft usually takes place between October and December, during the league's off-season. No player may sign with the PBA until he has been eligible for at least one draft.

The Ynares Sports Arena is an indoor arena located in Pasig, Metro Manila, Philippines. The stadium has hosted the basketball games of the Philippine Basketball Association, Philippine Basketball League, and Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, as well as college basketball tournaments. The arena was built in the former location of Rizal's provincial capitol, just nearby the location of former Rizal Provincial Jail Facility.
The Philippine Patriots, known as the AirAsia Philippine Patriots from 2010 to 2012 due to sponsorship reasons with Philippines AirAsia, were a professional basketball team that played in the ASEAN Basketball League. It was the first team from the Philippines to play in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) and one of the teams that played in the inaugural season of the ABL. The team was co-owned by Michael "Mikee" Romero and businessman Antonio O. Cojuangco, Jr.
The PBA D-League, or PBA Developmental League, is the official minor league of the Philippine Basketball Association.
The Philippines has participated at the Universiade debuting at the 1967 Summer Universiade. From 1967 until 2007, athletes representing the country were sent by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines with sanction from Philippine Olympic Committee. Since 2011 it is the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), a member of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), that has been sending competitors representing the country at the Universiade.
The joint Philippine–Japanese–Indonesian bid for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Japan Basketball Association, and the Indonesian Basketball Association's successful bid for the right to host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
The 2017–18 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup finals was the best-of-7 championship series of the 2017–18 PBA Philippine Cup and the conclusion of the conference's playoffs. The San Miguel Beermen and the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok competed for the 40th Philippine Cup championship and the 122nd overall championship contested by the league. San Miguel won the series in 5 games to be the first team in history to win four straight Philippine Cup titles.
