Short track speed skating at the 2002 Winter Olympics was held from 13 to 23 February. Eight events were contested at Salt Lake Ice Center. Two new events were added for these games, with the men's and women's 1500 metres making debuts.
Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters skate on an oval ice track with a length of 111.111 metres (364.54 ft). The rink itself is 60 metres (196.85 ft) long by 30 metres (98.43 ft) wide, which is the same size as an Olympic-sized figure skating rink and an international-sized ice hockey rink. Related sports include long track speed skating and inline speed skating.
The World Single Distances Speed Skating Championships are a series of speed skating competitions organised by the International Skating Union.
The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. The ISU was formed to establish standardized international rules and regulations for the skating disciplines it governs, and to organize international competitions in these disciplines. It is now based in Switzerland.
Short track speed skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics was held over thirteen days, from 12 to 25 February. Eight events were contested at the Torino Palavela. In the men's competition, Ahn Hyun-soo earned a medal in each event, winning three golds. On the women's side, Jin Sun-yu scored three gold medals.
Zuzana Babiaková, née Paurová, is a Slovak former competitive figure skater. She is the 2003 Golden Spin of Zagreb champion, a two-time Ondrej Nepela Memorial champion (1998–99), and a nine-time Slovak national champion. She qualified for the free skate at seven European Championships, four World Championships, and the 2002 Winter Olympics, where she placed 21st.
The Nepela Memorial, formerly known as the Ondrej Nepela Trophy in 2013–15 & 2017 and the Ondrej Nepela Memorial, is an annual senior-level international figure skating competition. Named after 1972 Olympic champion Ondrej Nepela, the competition has been held annually since 1993. It became part of the ISU Challenger Series in the 2014–15 season.
Lukáš Csölley is a Slovak former competitive ice dancer. With Lucie Myslivečková, he competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. With Federica Testa, he won four ISU Challenger Series medals and bronze at the 2015 Winter Universiade. They finished in the top ten at the 2015 and 2016 European Championships.
Lucie Myslivečková is a Czech and Slovak former competitive ice dancer. Representing Slovakia with Lukáš Csölley, she competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Earlier in her career, she represented the Czech Republic with Matěj Novák and Neil Brown. With Novák, she is the 2010 Golden Spin of Zagreb champion and the 2011 Czech national champion.
Jozef Beständig is a Slovak former competitive pair skater. Competing with his sister Oľga Beständigová, he won nine senior international medals and eight Slovak national titles. They competed at the 2002 Winter Olympics, five World Championships, and seven European Championships, placing as high as 7th.
Haralds Silovs is a Latvian long track and former short track speed skater, who became the 2008 and 2011 European champion in short track. He has participated in three Winter Olympics. In 2018, he finished fourth at speed skating 1500 metres event.
The 2015 Winter Universiade, the XXVII Winter Universiade, was a multi sport winter event held in Granada, Spain and Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia. On 14 March 2009, FISU announced that the host would be Granada because they were the only bid.
The 2011 Ondrej Nepela Memorial was the 19th edition of an international figure skating competition annually held in Slovakia. It was held from September 28 to October 2, 2011 at the Ondrej Nepela Ice Rink in Bratislava. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing at the senior level.
Short track speed skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics was held at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Russia. The eight events took place between 10–21 February 2014.
Nicole Rajičová or Rajic is a Slovak-American figure skater who represents Slovakia in ladies' singles. She is the 2014 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb bronze medalist, the 2013 Merano Cup silver medalist, the 2013 Bavarian Open bronze medalist, the 2013 Ice Challenge bronze medalist, and a five-time Slovak national champion.
The ISU Junior Grand Prix in Slovakia is an international figure skating competition. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union, it is held in the autumn in some years as part of the JGP series. Medals may be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

Slovakia competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 25 February 2018, with 56 competitors in 7 sports. Biathlete Anastasiya Kuzmina was the country's sole medalist, taking one gold and two silver medals, earning Slovakia 17th place in the overall medal table.
Patrick Roest is a Dutch professional long track speed skater who has won the World Allround Speed Skating Championships three times. He leads the adelskalender, an all-time ranking of skaters' personal bests. He is a member of the commercial team of Team Reggeborgh.
National figure skating championships for the 2021–22 season took place mainly from December 2021 to January 2022. They were held to crown national champions and to serve as part of the selection process for international events, such as the 2022 ISU Championships and the 2022 Winter Olympics. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. A few countries choose to organize their national championships together with their neighbors; the results were subsequently divided into national podiums.
