This is an episode list for the 1997 TV series, Tenchi in Tokyo (Shin Tenchi Muyo! in Japan). The series is yet, another retelling of the original Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVAs, like the Tenchi Universe TV series. It is produced by AIC and Pioneer LDC. The show aired on TV Tokyo on April 1, 1997 to September 23, 1997. The show was later aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block from August 25, 2000 to September 29, 2000. [1] [2]

Home Media

It was licensed in the US by Pioneer Entertainment who released the series on VHS and DVD until shutting down in 2007. [3] In 2010, Funimation Entertainment announced that a handful of former Geneon titles were licensed including Tenchi in Tokyo. A complete box set was released on November 13, 2012. [4]

Tenchi Muyo! is a Japanese anime, light novel and manga franchise. The original series began with a six-episode OVA called Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki created by Masaki Kajishima and directed by Hiroki Hayashi, and released in Japan on September 25, 1992. The series was released by Pioneer LDC in the United Kingdom in 1994. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode titled Tenchi Muyo! Special: The Night Before the Carnival and a stand-alone Tenchi Muyo! Mihoshi Special. A sequel series, Last Exile -Fam, The Silver Wing-, aired from October 2011 to March 2012. MVM Entertainment, also known as MVM and MVM Films, is a British licensor and distributor of Japanese animation. The company also sub-licenses anime titles from US anime companies such as Media Blasters, Geneon, Nozomi Entertainment, Urban Vision, AnimEigo and US Manga Corps, which do not have a UK presence, and releases them on Region 2 DVD. It is part of the MVM Group, which also has wholesale and retail arms, and specialises in anime, manga and related merchandise. It is headquartered in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, Wales.
