Rapso is a form of Trinidadian music that grew out of the social unrest of the 1970s. Black Power and unions grew in the 1970s, and rapso grew along with them. The first recording was Blow Away by Lancelot Layne in 1970. Six years later, Cheryl Byron was scorned when she sang rapso at a calypso tent; she is now called the "Mother of Rapso".

Cheryl Byron was a visual artist, dancer, singer and social and cultural advocate.

Roberta Silva is an artist based in Milan and Lake Garda.

Sybil Marjory Atteck was a pioneering Trinidadian painter known for her work in watercolor. She is celebrated as Trinidad and Tobago's "first outstanding female painter" and was a founding member of the Trinidad and Tobago Art Society, the oldest established art organization in the Caribbean.

Bernadette Indira Persaud is a Guyanese painter. She is a graduate of the University of Guyana and of the Burrows School of Art in Georgetown. Her style is expressionistic, and bears some resemblance to the work of Isaiah James Boodhoo, Wendy Nanan, and Kenwyn Crichlow of Trinidad and Tobago. Persaud has also written about art for numerous Guyanese publications.

Catherine Miller is a Trinidadian model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Trinidad and Tobago 2013 and represented her country at the Miss Universe 2013 pageant.

Wendy Nanan is an artist from Trinidad and Tobago. Much of her work focuses on the multi-racial aspects of Trinidadian society, often featuring images of religious figures and post-colonial symbolism. Nanan has exhibited in Paris, France; London, England; Washington DC and Kentucky, USA; Prince Edward Island and British Columbia, Canada; Johannessburg, South Africa; and the Dominican Republic.

Graham Goddard Trinidadian American conceptual artist (born 1982)

Graham Goddard is a Trinidadian American conceptual artist known for making visual statements about the environment, spirituality and commodification through painting, sculpture and site-specific land art installations. Goddard's work has been exhibited at the Skirball Museum, the California African American Museum and numerous art galleries in the United States and abroad. Goddard is also the founder of All Public Art, a social media platform and mobile app for artists and art enthusiasts, which assists in the discovery of artwork in public spaces and provides a photo-sharing and e-commerce component for people to sell or purchase art related items.

Nicole Awai American visual artist

Nicole Awai is an artist and educator based in Brooklyn, New York and Austin, Texas. Her work captures both Caribbean and American landscapes and experiences and engages in cultural critique. She works in many media including painting, photography, drawing, installations, ceramics, and sculpture as well as found objects.

Cheryl Laemmle American painter

Cheryl Laemmle is an American contemporary surrealist painter of figures, animals, and imaginary landscapes.

Valerie Belgrave was a Trinidadian artist, painter and author, who also composed music.

Wendell McShine is a visual artist from Trinidad and Tobago. His work includes paintings, murals, animated videos and video installations. McShine has lived in the US and Mexico and founded the community arts programme Art Connect.

Che Lovelace is a Trinidadian artist who lives and works in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He first came to prominence as a champion surfer and was appointed president of Trinidad's Surfing Association in 2012. He has contributed to many art, Carnival and entertainment projects, including the weekly Studiofilmclub, founded in 2003 with Peter Doig. Lovelace is currently a lecturer at the University of the West Indies Creative Arts Campus. He is the son of novelist Earl Lovelace.

Brazil–Trinidad and Tobago relations Bilateral relations

Brazil–Trinidad and Tobago relations are bilateral relations between Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad and Tobago has an embassy in Brasilia and Brazil has an embassy in Port of Spain.

Mahmoud Pharouk Alladin (1919–1980) was a Trinidad and Tobago artist, poet, writer, teacher and public servant. Alladin played a major role in the expansion of art education and was an important influence on a wide range of Trinidad and Tobago artists. He helped develop a local artistic identity, and helped legitimise rural Indo-Trinidadian life as a subject for local artists.
