Western United Football Club is an Australian professional association football club based in Trugania, Melbourne. The club was formed as the Western Melbourne Group before being renamed as Western United.

The Melbourne Victory–Western United FC rivalry, also known as the Battle of the Bridge and the Westgate Derby, is a rivalry between Victorian clubs Melbourne Victory and Western United.

The 2021–22 A-League Men, known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons, was the 45th season of national level men's soccer in Australia, and the 17th since the establishment of the competition as the A-League in 2004.

The history of Western United Football Club covers the time from the club's foundation to their first three seasons in the A-League Men. Western United Football Club was founded in 2018 as Western Melbourne in a bidding process to expand the number of teams in the A-League for the 2019–20 season. They were chosen as one of two new A-League clubs along with Macarthur FC, who would enter the competition a season later for the 2020–21 A-League season. Western United's first season had the club finish 5th and progress to the semi-finals.
