VMA-533(AW) Mediterranean Sea off the coast of France. Aircraft operating from the USS John F. Kennedy failed to return from a training mission. Pilot Captain Miguel I. Gonzalez was found 12 hours later and died from hypothermia. 1st Lt Robert J. Cox was not found and presumed dead.
