Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a 2014 American science fiction film directed by Matt Reeves and written by Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. It stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Kirk Acevedo. It is the sequel to the 2011 film Rise of the Planet of the Apes , which began 20th Century Fox's reboot of the original Planet of the Apes series. The film grossed $208,545,589 in the US & Canada and $500,290,000 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $708,835,589. [1]

He has received several awards and nominations as visual effects supervisor, the latest being Avatar: The Way of Water, and previously for War for the Planet of the Apes. He attended Center High School (Pennsylvania) in 1975 and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1981. He gave the keynote address at UC Berkeley's December Convocation on 19 December 2010.

Erik Winquist is an American New Zealander visual effects supervisor. He is best known for his work on three prominent film franchises featuring large computer generated animal effects: Peter Jackson's King Kong (2005), Planet of the Apes prequel films, and Rampage (2018).

Caesar is a fictional character in the Planet of the Apes franchise. He is the leader of the apes in both the original and reboot series. Caesar is portrayed by Roddy McDowall in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1971) and Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973), whose likeness is reprised in the comic series Tarzan on the Planet of the Apes (2016). Later on Andy Serkis portrays the character in the reboot series consisting of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
