The island governor of Saba is the representative on Saba, an island of the Netherlands, of the Dutch head of state (King Willem-Alexander), under responsibility of the minister of the interior and kingdom relations. The governor is appointed by the monarch for a period of six years. The island governor chairs the meetings of the Executive Council and the Island Council, and is the head of the public entity. The current island governor is Jonathan Johnson. [1] The acting island governor is Shamara Nicholson-Linzey. [2]

Until 1 April 1983 Saba coexisted with St. Eustatius and Sint Maarten under the Island Territory of the Windward Islands. The lieutenant governor of this island territory was represented on Saba by an administrator. [5]

A lieutenant governor, lieutenant-governor, or vice governor is a high officer of state, whose precise role and rank vary by jurisdiction. Often a lieutenant governor is the deputy, or lieutenant, to or ranked under a governor — a "second-in-command", rather like deputy governor. In Canadian provinces and in the Dutch Caribbean, the lieutenant governor is the representative of the monarch in that jurisdiction, and thus outranks the head of government, but for practical purposes has virtually no power.

Canashito, also known as Canachito, Cornachiti or Carachito, is located inland on a limestone outcrop, near Hooiberg, in Santa Cruz, Aruba, measuring 63.2 metres (207 ft) in elevation above sea level. This toponym Canashito is thought to have possible Amerindian origin. This limestone outcrop is of significance as a notable Archaic period site.
Casibari is a settlement of Paradera, north of Hooiberg, in Aruba. Evidence of prehistoric rock drawings is still visible at the site. "Casibari" is an Indian name of Arawak origin and can be explained as follows: CA as a prefix: where there are, SIBA is stone and RI as a suffix is: good; so Where There are Good Stones. The name can also be explained as follows: CASIBA is hollow or cavern with RI is good; so Good Hole (cavern). This toponym also stands for cas di baril, house of barrel, the first tin house of Aruba, made from oil barrels.

Sydney Alton Eugene Sorton is a politician from Saba, who currently holds the office of acting-judge with the Joint Court of Justice. Before this, Sorton was the lieutenant governor of Saba on two occasions, serving from 2 November 1989 to 19 November 1998 and from 1 April 2006 to 2 July 2008. Prior to that, Sorton was a law enforcement civil servant for the Netherlands Antilles Police Force.
Wycliffe Sylvester Smith is a Sint Maarten politician, former pastor and poet. Smith briefly served as prime minister of Sint Maarten in 2019. From 1983 to 1989 he was the lieutenant governor of Saba.

De Olde Molen, also known as Old Dutch Windmill, The Mill, or Alte Mühle is a non-operational octagonal smock mill with a stage reconstructed in 1961 in Bubali, Aruba. Since then, it has been serving as a restaurant and a windmill museum.
