List of magazines in Albania

Following the collapse of the communist regime in Albania in 1991, the number of magazines increased. [1] It was 71 in 2001 based on the data of the Albanian Media Institute in Tirana. [2] In the following year it was 70. [3] In terms of frequency, the magazines were mostly weekly, bimonthly and quarterly. [2]

Kosovo War 1998–1999 armed conflict in Kosovo

The Kosovo War was an armed conflict in Kosovo that started 28 February 1998 and lasted until 11 June 1999. It was fought by the forces of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which controlled Kosovo before the war, and the Kosovo Albanian rebel group known as the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The conflict ended when the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intervened by beginning air strikes in March 1999 which resulted in Yugoslav forces withdrawing from Kosovo.

Përmet City in Albania

Përmet is a city and municipality in Gjirokastër County, southern Albania. The total population is 10,614, in a total area of 602.47 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 5,945. It is flanked by the Vjosë river, which runs along the Trebeshinë-Dhëmbel-Nemërçkë mountain chain, between Trebeshinë and Dhëmbel mountains, and through the Këlcyrë Gorge.

Pandeli Sotiri Albanian writer

Pandeli Sotiri (1842–1892) was an Albanian activist that acted as director of the first Albanian school of modern times in Korçë. Sotiri was one of the most important Rilindas figures that contributed in the propagation of the Albanian language. He also worked on one of the versions of the Albanian alphabet. The Congress of Monastir based Albanian's alphabet mostly on Sotiri's precedent work.

Laiko Vima is a bi-weekly newspaper published in Gjirokastër, that serves the local Greek communities in Albania. It was founded in 1945 and was the only newspaper printed in the Greek language during the Socialist People's Republic of Albania.

<i>Rilindja Demokratike</i> Albanian newspaper

Rilindja Demokratike is an Albanian newspaper founded and continuously published in Tirana. Rilindja Demokratike is the official newspaper of the Democratic Party of Albania. Its chief editor is Bledi Kasmi. Its first publication was on 5 January 1991 and was the first free newspaper since the Fall of communism in Albania, while it functioned against the state newspaper Zëri i Popullit what was the newspaper of the Communist Party and nowadays of the Socialist Party. RD still preserve the same values as on its first day of publication and is one of the most respected newspapers of the Albanian media, this is because its first issue was actually the first free media coverage in 46 years. RD was also the first media in Albania that openly criticized the regime of Enver Hoxha.

Gjirokastër City in Albania

Gjirokastër is a city in the Republic of Albania and the seat of Gjirokastër County and Gjirokastër Municipality. It is located in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as "a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate". The city is overlooked by Gjirokastër Fortress, where the Gjirokastër National Folklore Festival is held every five years. It is the birthplace of former Albanian communist leader Enver Hoxha, and author Ismail Kadare.

Insurgency in Kosovo (1995–1998)

The Insurgency in Kosovo began in 1995, following the Dayton Agreement. In 1996, the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) began attacks, which targeted Serbian governmental buildings and police stations. The insurgency led to the Kosovo War in February 1998.

Anti-Greek sentiment refers to negative feelings, dislike, hatred, derision, racism, prejudice, and/or discrimination towards Greeks, the Hellenic Republic, and Greek culture. It is the opposite of philhellenism.

<i>Studime Historike</i>

Studime Historike is a scientific magazine on albanology. It is published by the Institute of History, part of the Centre of Albanological Studies in Tirana, Albania.
It is profilised as a bulletin short studies or articles dealing with Albanian history, from antiquity to nowadays. Beside historical thematic, it publishes studies presented in scientific events as conferences and symposiums, archival documents, pieces of historical memoirs and materials, information of scientific activities organised by the Institute of History, etc.
It provides information of latest publications of the Albanian Institute of History, both Albanian and foreign albanologists.

Persecution of Eastern Orthodox Christians is the persecution faced by the clergy and the adherents of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Eastern Orthodox Christians have been persecuted in various periods when under the rule of non-Orthodox Christian political structures. In modern times, anti-religious political movements and regimes in some countries have held an anti-Orthodox stance.

Studime Filologjike is a scientific magazine on Albanian language and literature, published by the Centre of Albanological Studies. It publishes linguistics studies, literary historical studies, old texts, resumes of scientific work on literature criticism and linguistics, etc.

<i>Gjuha Jonë</i> Magazine est. 1981 in Tirana, Albania

Gjuha Jonë is a magazine published in Tirana, Albania, focusing on the standard and literary Albanian language. It is published by the Centre of Albanological Studies. Its main functions consist of enlarging the functionality of the standard Albanian language and elevation of its social prestige, the educational system and staff, strategies on augmentation of press organs and publishing media, and increase of the researchers in the linguistics field.

Kulloja is a political magazine published in North Korea. Launched in 1946 it is published monthly and is an official publication of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea
