List of natural gas fields in Bangladesh

Currently there are 28 natural gas fields in Bangladesh. [1] The first gas field was discovered at Haripur, Sylhet in 1955 and the last gas field was discovered in the 2017 at Bhola. [2] Titas gas field is the largest natural gas field in Bangladesh. It was invented by the Pakistan Shell Oil Company in Brahmanbaria in the year 1962. The first gas transmission was started in 1957.

Private airlines Novoair and US-Bangla Airlines operate domestic flights to Dhaka.

The 2010 National Cricket League Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh, played in April 2010, was the sole edition of a now-defunct Twenty20 league involving the teams in the National Cricket League (NCL). The tournament was initiated by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It included six teams representing the divisions of Bangladesh. It was a limited success and has effectively been replaced by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The tournament was won by the Rajshahi Rangers who defeated the Kings of Khulna by 6 wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the winning team's Qaiser Abbas being named "Man of the Match".

The economy of Sylhet is the 5th largest in the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. It has a gross state product of $16 billion in nominal terms, and $40 billion in terms of purchasing power parity, making it the third largest behind Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Rajshahi. Since the formation of Bangladesh, Sylhet has been regarded as the spiritual and cultural center of the country, and often termed as the agricultural capital of Bangladesh. Due to vast natural resources and emerging metropolitan, Sylhet is a major economic hub of the country alongside Dhaka and Chittagong. In recent years, Sylhet is experiencing major infrastructural developments, and projected to be the forefront of Bangladesh's economic growth. Sylhet is known for its tea plantations. About 80% of the country's agar processing factories are located in Barlekha Upazila.

Bangladesh is the sixteenth-largest producer of natural gas in Asia. Gas supplies meet 56% of domestic energy demand. However, the country faces an acute energy crisis in meeting the demands of its vast and growing population. Bangladesh is a net importer of crude oil and petroleum products. The energy sector is dominated by state-owned companies, including Petrobangla and the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation. Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Equinor, Gazprom and ONGC are major international companies engaged in Bangladesh's hydrocarbon industry, with Chevron's gas fields accounting for 50% of natural gas production.

The Bangladesh Premier League 2019, also known as BPL Season 6 or UCB BPL 2019 Powered by TVS, was the sixth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the top level professional Twenty20 cricket franchise league in Bangladesh. The competition was organised by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), featuring seven teams from seven cities. Teams are restricted to having four overseas players per side, instead of five in the previous edition of the tournament. Rangpur Riders were the defending champions.

Sylhet Gas Fields Limited is a government owned major gas company in Bangladesh. It is under Petrobangla and is headquartered in Haripur, Jaintapur, Sylhet District.

Chhatak Gas Field is a natural gas field located in Chhatak Upazila, Sunamganj District, Bangladesh. This company is under the control of Sylhet Gas Field Company Limited (SGFL). For the first time in Bangladesh, gas connection was provided to the industrial sector from this gas field in 1959. In 1960, it provided approximately 4 million cubic feet of gas per day to Chhatak Cement Factory as well as pulp and paper mills.

Fenchuganj Gas Field is a natural gas field located in Baramchal Union Parishad,Kulaura Upazila, Moulvibazar District, Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. This company is under the control of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (BAPEX).

Jalalabad Gas Field is a natural gas field at Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is operated by Chevron, a leading US multinational company in the oil and gas sector.

Narsingdi Gas Field is a natural gas field located in Narsingdi District, Bangladesh. It is a company under the control of Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited.

Beanibazar Gas Field is a natural gas field at Sylhet, Bangladesh. The gas field was found in 1981 and has two wells. The extraction started in 1991 and was closed in 2014. Later on it was opened in 2016 but again closed down. It is controlled by Sylhet Gas Fields Limited.

Habiganj Gas Field is a natural gas field located in Habiganj district of Bangladesh. It is controlled by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited.

Rashidpur Gas Field is a natural gas field located in Habiganj, Bangladesh. In 1960, Pakistan Shell Oil Company discovered it. In 1975, this gas field came under the control of the Government of Bangladesh. It is one of the sixth gasfields owned and operated by a government company, Sylhet Gas Fields Company Limited.

Kailashtilla Gas Field is a natural gas field at Sylhet, Bangladesh. It was discovered in 1962 by Pakistan Shell Oil Company. It starts producing gas since 1983. It is controlled by Sylhet Gas Fields Limited. This gas field is situated nearly 35 km away from Beanibazar Gas Field. In 2012, conducting a 3D seismic surveys, Bapex found oil reserves of nearly 137 million barrels in Kailashtilla and Haripur; of which 109 million barrels of oil reserve at Kailashtilla and the remaining of 28 million barrels in Haripur. Oil was first discovered in Haripur field in the 1980s. According to the BAPEX, the oil found in Kailashtila field is lighter and easily extractable, then that in Haripur.

Sylhet power plant popularly known as Kumargaon Power Plant also known as Kumargaon Power Station is a gas turbine power station in Sylhet Sadar Upazila, Sylhet District of Bangladesh. This plant is operated by Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). It has connected Sylhet district and some parts of Moulvibazar, Sunamganj, and Habiganj.

The 2020–21 National Cricket League is the twenty-second edition of the National Cricket League (NCL), a first-class cricket competition that is being held in Bangladesh. The tournament started on 22 March 2021, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) using the tournament as preparation for Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in April 2021. The eight teams taking part were placed into two tiers, with the tournament scheduled to end on 29 April 2021. Khulna Division are the defending champions.

The 2021–22 National Cricket League was the twenty-third edition of the National Cricket League (NCL), a first-class cricket competition that was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh from 15 October to 25 November 2021. In March 2021, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the domestic cricket schedule from 2021 to 2023 and confirmed that the 23rd NCL would be held in October 2021. Khulna Division are the defending champions.
