These are the Billboard magazine R&B singles chart number one hits of 1976:
Eight songs went to number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Six of the songs that peaked on the chart in 1976 are "Disco Lady", "Boogie Fever", "Love Hangover", "Kiss and Say Goodbye", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", and "Play that Funky Music". Two more songs, "You Don't Have to Be a Star (To Be in My Show)", and "Car Wash", topped the chart the year after. In contrast, "Turning Point" by R&B singer Tyrone Davis spent a week at number one on the R&B singles chart in February and was the first number one soul single to fail to make the Hot 100 since 1955.

KC and the Sunshine Band is an American disco and funk band, founded in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida. Their best-known songs include the hits "That's the Way ", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "I'm Your Boogie Man", "Keep It Comin' Love", "Get Down Tonight", "Boogie Shoes", "Please Don't Go" and "Give It Up". The band took its name from lead vocalist Harry Wayne Casey's last name ('KC') and the 'Sunshine Band' from KC's home state of Florida, the Sunshine State. The group had six top 10 singles, five number one singles and two number two singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

"Right Thurr" is a song by American rapper Chingy. It was co-written and produced by St. Louis production team The Trak Starz. It was released on May 10, 2003 by Capitol and Disturbing tha Peace as the debut single off his debut album Jackpot (2003). The song received positive reviews from critics who praised the production and Chingy's addictive delivery.
"End of the Road" is a single song recorded by American R&B group Boyz II Men for the Boomerang soundtrack. It was released in 1992 and was written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Antonio L.A. Reid and Daryl Simmons.
"Drop It Like It's Hot" is a hit single by American rapper Snoop Dogg featuring American singer and producer Pharrell. Snoop Dogg performs the chorus and the second and third verses, while Pharrell performs the first verse. Pharrell's verse includes a line from "Raspy Shit", which was produced by The Neptunes and contains vocal samples from Laid Back's "White Horse". Part of "White Horse"'s production is sampled in "Drop It Like It's Hot" as well.
"Shake Ya Tailfeather" is a song recorded by American rappers Nelly, P. Diddy and Murphy Lee. It was released in 2003 from the Bad Boys II Soundtrack. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, giving Nelly his third number one on the chart, P. Diddy's fourth, and Lee's first. The song was also included on Lee's debut album, Murphy's Law. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at the 2004 Grammy Awards.
"Shop Around" is a song originally recorded by The Miracles on Motown Records' Tamla subsidiary label. It was written by Miracles lead singer Smokey Robinson and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy. It became a smash hit in 1960 when originally recorded by The Miracles, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B chart, number one on the Cash Box Magazine Top 100 Pop Chart, and number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was The Miracles first million-selling hit record, and the first-million-selling hit for the Motown Record Corporation. This landmark single was a multiple award winner for The Miracles, having been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2006, inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of The 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll, and honored by Rolling Stone as #500 in their list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
"If I Ain't Got You" is a song by American singer-songwriter Alicia Keys from her second studio album The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003). Inspired by the 2001 death of singer Aaliyah, the terrorist September 11 attacks, and other events in the world and in Keys' life, the song is about "how material things don't feed the soul." The single cover depicts Keys similarly to the subject of Man Ray's 1924 painting Le Violon d'Ingres.
"You'll Never Find Another Love like Mine" is a song performed by R&B singer Lou Rawls on his 1976 album All Things in Time. The song proved to be Rawls' breakthrough hit, reaching number one on both the R&B and Easy Listening charts as well as number four on the dance chart and number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it was kept from the top spot for two weeks by "You Should Be Dancing" by The Bee Gees and "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band, respectively. This was the first and only time that one of Rawls' records managed to reach Billboard's pop top ten. It was the first big hit for Philadelphia International to feature the reformulated MFSB, after many of the original members left Gamble and Huff for better opportunities. The song started Rawls' live shows from 1977 on.
Billboard Year-End charts are a cumulative measure of a single or album's performance in the United States, based upon the Billboard magazine charts during any given chart year. Billboard's "chart year" runs from the first Billboard "week" of December to the final week in November, but because the Billboard week is dated in advance of publication, the last calendar week for which sales are counted is usually the third week in November. This altered calendar allows for Billboard to calculate year-end charts and release them in time for its final print issue in the last week of December.
"Venus" is a song written by Ed Marshall. The most successful and best-known recording of the track was done by Frankie Avalon and released in 1959, where it reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
"Money Maker" is a song written and performed by American rapper Ludacris and R&B singer Pharrell Williams. The song was released to the radio on July 17, 2006 as the first single from Ludacris's fifth album Release Therapy. Produced by Williams and Chad Hugo, the song is a reimagining of the 1961 Elmore James blues song "Shake Your Moneymaker". The single became Ludacris' third number-one song on the US Billboard Hot 100, while also topping the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Tracks charts. It also became the number-one single on radio in the United States on October 19, 2006.
"Danger " is the second single released by rapper Mystikal from his fourth album, Let's Get Ready, featuring singer Nivea. It was released on December 12, 2000 and was produced by The Neptunes. The single was a success, peaking at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, number one on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, number three on the Hot Rap Singles and number eight on the Rhythmic Top 40. "Danger " was the second single from the album to reach the top 20 on the charts, "Shake Ya Ass" being the first.
"Don't Matter" is a reggae fusion–R&B song by American singer Akon from his second studio album, Konvicted (2006). The song was released as the album's third single in January 2007. In April of that year, it became Akon's first solo U.S. number-one single and second number-one overall. The chorus interpolates the 1979 song "Zimbabwe" by Bob Marley and the Wailers. “Don’t Matter” was #31 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. This song was also #81 on MTV Asia's list of Top 100 Hits of 2007.
"Kiss and Say Goodbye" is a 1976 hit song worldwide, by popular American R&B vocal group The Manhattans. It was written by group member Winfred Lovett, the bass singer and songwriter of the group, who intoned the famous spoken voice of the song's intro. The song was recorded for the album The Manhattans, released in 1976 by Columbia Records, and was released as a single in March of the same year. "Kiss and Say Goodbye" became a worldwide success, appearing in the musical charts of countless countries, a Top 10 hit in many countries, including No. 1 in the US, Belgium, Netherlands, New Zealand, and in Europe (European Hot 100 Singles). With the exception of Adult Contemporary Chart, "Kiss and Say Goodbye" was ranked number 1 in US on all Pop Singles Charts and on all R&B Singles Charts. The song was one of the biggest hits of 1976 and of the 1970s.
"Welcome Back" is a song by American rapper Mase. It was released as the first single off his third studio album Welcome Back. It marked the first single that Mase had released since 1999's "Get Ready", after he had taken a 5 year hiatus from the music industry.
"Shake It Off" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her fifth album, 1989 (2014). Co-written by Swift and its producers Max Martin and Shellback, "Shake It Off" is an uptempo dance-pop track considered to be a departure from Swift's earlier country pop music style. It is the sixth track on the album and serves as the lead single. The song premiered during a Yahoo! live stream session on August 18, 2014 ; its music video was also released the same day. Several hours later, the song was made available for digital download.
"For Free" is a single by American musician DJ Khaled, featuring Canadian rapper Drake, released on June 3, 2016, by We the Best Music Group and Epic Records as the lead single from DJ Khaled's ninth studio album, Major Key. The song was produced by Nineteen85, Jordan Ullman and co-produced by Frankie Cutlass. The song was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on September 15, 2016, for selling over 1,000,000 digital copies in the United States.
"And On and On" is a song by American singer Janet Jackson from her second remix album Janet Remixed (1995). As the B-side to "Any Time, Any Place", "And On and On" peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and number two on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number one as a B-side on the Cash Box chart in the summer of 1994.
