The following list is the list of the ranking of the universities in the People's Republic of China in the specialized subject of Journalism and Communication. [1] The ranking is made by China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center (an administrative department directly under the Ministry of Education, P.R.C) in 2009.

Located in Haidian District of Beijing, BFSU is divided into two campuses – west and east. It is a Chinese state Double First Class University identified by Chinese Ministry of Education. BFSU is commonly known as Beiwai in Mandarin; BFSU is also nicknamed 一外 to distinguish it from Beijing International Studies University. The Huazhong University of Science and Technology is a public research university located in Guanshan Subdistrict, Hongshan District, Wuhan, Hubei province, China. As a national key university directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China, HUST is a Project 985 and Class A Double First Class University. HUST manages Wuhan National Laboratories for Opto-electronics (WNLO), which is one of the five national laboratories in China. Project 985 Chinese higher education project of Jiang Zemin

Project 985 was a project that was first announced by General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Jiang Zemin at the 100th anniversary of Peking University on May 4, 1998, to promote the development and reputation of the Chinese higher education system by founding world-class universities in the 21st century. The name derives from the date of the announcement, May 1998, or 98/5 according to the Chinese date format. The project involves both national and local governments allocating large amounts of funding to certain universities in order to build new research centers, improve facilities, hold international conferences, attract world-renowned faculty and visiting scholars, and help Chinese faculty attend conferences abroad. According to the latest rankings of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the U.S. News & World Report Best Global University Ranking, most of the 39 universities in the Project 985 are ranked among the top 500 universities in the world.

University of Electronic Science and Technology of China

University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is a public technological university located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It is a Class A Double First Class University directly under the Ministry of Education. UESTC was included as one of the first universities into former "Project 211", former “Project 985”, and the state's Double First Class University Plan.

C9 League Alliance of top Chinese universities

The C9 League is an alliance of nine universities in China, initiated by the Chinese Central Government to promote the development and reputation of higher education in China in 2009. Collectively, universities in the C9 League account for 3% of the country's researchers, but receive 10% of national research expenditures. They produce 20% of the nation's academic publications and 30% of total citations. People's Daily, an official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, refers to the C9 League as China's Ivy League. The grouping has been compared to other elite university groupings around the world such as the Ivy League, Russell Group, U15, and Group of Eight.

Nanjing University Public university in Nanjing, China

Nanjing University, colloquially known as Nanda, is a leading public research university in Nanjing, Jiangsu. It is a member of the elite C9 League of Chinese universities and a Class A Double First Class University designated by the Chinese central government. NJU has two main campuses: the Xianlin campus in the northeast of Nanjing, and the Gulou campus in the city center of Nanjing.
