Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality is a municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark near Copenhagen on the eastern coast of the island of Zealand. It is part of the Greater Copenhagen area. The municipality borders Rudersdal Municipality to the north, Furesø Municipality to the west and Gladsaxe and Gentofte Municipality to the south. It borders the Øresund to the east.
Lyngby Boldklub is a professional football club based in Lyngby, Denmark, founded in 1921. It is based at Lyngby Stadion. The club play in Danish Superliga. From 1994 to 2001 the club was known as Lyngby FC. The club has won the Danish championship twice and the Danish Cup three times.
Virum is a mostly residential, suburban neighbourhood in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality, located on both sides of Lyngby Kongevej, approximately 15 km north of central Copenhagen, Denmark. The neighbourhood is bordered by Lake Furesø to the west, Holte in Rudersdal Municipality to the north, Brede to the east and Kongens Lyngby and Sorgenfri to the south.

Taarbæk is a neighbourhood in Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality. The neighbourhood covers approximately 0.5 km2, located between Jægersborg Dyrehave and Øresund. The population is estimated to ca. 1700 residents. Traditionally, Taarbæk was a fishing village but, nowadays, the village is inhabited by people from the middle or upper class. Taarbæk is named after a former village called Torsbæk, which was located just north of where Taarbæk is today. The giant container ship Emma Mærsk is home-ported in Taarbæk.

Carl Thorvald Andersen was a Danish carpenter, who became the structural engineer and architect at the Holmen Naval Base in the second part of the 19th century. In this position, he designed a number of buildings for the use of the Royal Danish Navy in line with the accelerating technological development of the day. Today, these buildings are used by, among others, the Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole and the Rhythmic Music Conservatory. Andersen was succeeded in the position of architect by Olaf Schmidth in 1899.

Kattesundet is a side street to the shopping street Strøget in the Old Town of Copenhagen, Denmark. It runs from Vestergade in the northwest to Lavendelstræde-Slutterigade in the southeast, linking Larsbjørnsstræde with Hestemøllestræde. The buildings that line the southwest side of the street all date from the years after the Copenhagen Fire of 1795. Six of them, No. 2 and No. 10-18, are listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places. The other side of the street is dominated by the rear side of Copenhagen Court House and the Anton Rosen Jugendstil Metropol Building from 1908.
