Little Elliot is a series of children's picture books, written and illustrated by Mike Curato and published by Henry Holt and Company. The series consists of five books: Little Elliot, Big City (2015); Little Elliot, Big Family (2015); Little Elliot, Big Fun (2016); Little Elliot, Fall Friends (2017); and Merry Christmas, Little Elliot (2018). The books follow the adventures of Elliot, a small, polka-dotted elephant. [1]

Little Elliot, Big City (2015)

Little Elliot, Big City was published August 26, 2014. It has since been translated into 12 languages (non-US English, Bulgarian, Catalan, French, German, Hebrew, Korean, Italian, Mandarin [simplified and traditional], Russian, and Spanish). [2]

It received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly [3] and Booklist , [1] as well as positive reviews from School Library Journal, [4] The Horn Book , [5] and The New York Times. [6] Kirkus provided a mixed review. [7]

Little Elliot, Big Family (2015)

Little Elliot, Big Family was published October 6, 2015. It has since been translated into nine languages (Bulgarian, Catalan, French, German, Mandarin [simplified and traditional], Russian, Spanish, and Japanese). [8]

The received starred reviews from Kirkus [9] and Publishers Weekly , [10] as well as positive reviews from School Library Journal, [11] Booklist, [12] and Shelf Awareness. [13]

Little Elliot, Big Fun was published August 30, 2016. It has since been translated into six languages (Catalan, French, Mandarin [simplified and traditional], Spanish, and Japanese). [14]

Big Cat, Little Cat is a 2017 children's picture book written by Elisha Cooper. It was published by Roaring Brook Press, a subsidiary of Macmillan Books. In the story, a large, white cat welcomes a new black cat into a family. The white cat then dies, and the cycle begins anew when the family adopts a new kitten. Cooper was inspired to write the story after his family experienced a similar situation. Critics praised his illustrations, for their ability to help further the story's messages and themes. These monochromatic illustrations were different than the style Cooper normally employed when illustrating a book. The book was well-reviewed, and received a 2018 Caldecott Honor.
