Little Girls is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2008 from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band emerged from Toronto's post-punk scene as a solo recording project of multi-instrumentalist Josh McIntyre. With a focus on Minimalist Electronic, Little Girls released CULTS EP (September 6, 2011) on Hand Drawn Dracula and are currently working on their second full-length record.
In the wake of a series of high-profile blog mentions and singles released on Brooklyn labels Mexican Summer and Captured Tracks, [1] Little Girls released their debut album Concepts on Paper Bag Records on October 13, 2009. Prior to Concepts . The band also released Tambourine with Paper Bag Digital on June 2, 2009. The songs combine lo-fi distorted surf rock with layers of haunting, and melodic walls of sound. [2] Little Girls quickly embarked on a North American tour, [3] performing with some of the most talked about bands of the year, as well, has performed at several major International Music Festivals including Halifax Pop Explosion, Pop Montreal, CMJ and South by Southwest Festival. Little Girls album Concepts debuted at No. 12 on Chart Attack, the second highest debut achieved that week, No. 14 on Earshot!, and recently charted at No. 10 on the Top 50 National Earshot! Charts. It began when Josh McIntyre recorded songs in his home studio as a side project in early 2009. Seeking the unbiased opinions from friends and musical peers, he anonymously posted the music on the internet under the name "Little Girls," a name he believed least likely to reveal his identity. He also sent a link to influential music blog Gorilla vs. Bear, [5] and within days, the music was receiving thousands of plays and Little Girls was getting positive attention from blogs such as The Walrus, [6] No Pain in Pop, Static Fuzz, [7] Exclaim! [8] Pitchfork Media and Brooklyn Vegan. Little Girls' sound also inspired influential UK magazine Dazed & Confused to feature the band in their May 'Mavericks' issue.
Little Girls' sound is driven by youth and nostalgia, and whose influences also come from the 1980s no-wave post-punk scene and the early 1980s golden era of hip-hop. Equally influential are the late hip-hop artist J. Dilla, as well as Can, Joy Division, Wire, and The Clean. Other releases were subsequently released on PBR and Brooklyn labels Mexican Summer and Captured Tracks.

Tokyo Police Club is an indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 2005, it consists of vocalist and bassist Dave Monks, keyboardist Graham Wright, guitarist Josh Hook, and drummer Greg Alsop. The band found early success with their 2006 debut EP A Lesson in Crime, which they followed with several popular releases including the albums Elephant Shell and Champ in 2008 and 2010, respectively. During the 2010s, they released three other studio albums. Among other nominations, the band has been twice nominated for the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, in 2011 for Champ and in 2019 for TPC.
The Acorn was the music project of singer-songwriter and musician Rolf-Carlos Klausener formed in Ottawa, Ontario in 2003. Their music spanned numerous genres, from art-folk and indie, to minimal electro and folk-rock, and members played with numerous other bands. Their songs have charted on Canadian campus charts and have been in rotation on CBC Radio 3 and The Verge.

Box Elders, a self-described "Cave Pop" band, began initially in 2005 as a goof-off project of sixteen-year-old Clayton and his fourteen-year-older brother Jeremiah McIntyre. The brothers' mother originally sang in the band, but soon quit. Eventually they started to play shows around Omaha, Nebraska. After seeing a free show, Dave Goldberg was enlisted to join and simultaneously play organs and drums. They spent much of 2008 and 2009 on the road before releasing their debut album Alice and Friends on August 11, 2009. The album's name comes from a vegan barbecue restaurant in Chicago of the same name. They embarked on a tour of the United States in October 2009 with labelmates Jay Reatard and Nobunny and in March 2010 with Black Lips. Box Elders began an indefinite hiatus in 2010.

Ruby Kato Attwood left the band at the end of 2014. Past members have included John Ancheta on bass and acoustic guitar, Walter Scott, Shub Roy, Alana Ruth, and Adrienne Mak.
